Today at 10 am ET, the @usavolleyball WNT opens play in the VNL World play. Three @PurdueVB alumni will be on the USA roster. This is the most ever for our program. Looking forward to watching @annie_drews @ashley_evans5 & @daniellecuttino!

You can watch at volleyballworld.TV for $7.99 for one month. Just watched first set and Annie Drews was (as she almost always is) spectacular.

USA beats Serbia in 5 sets in tough win. Serbia ranked #1 and USA #4. Serbia beat USA in quarterfinals last year.

Wow! Knew about Drews and Cuttino, did not know about Evans.

Good for her!
USA is now 3-0 with wins over Serbia, Italy and Korea.. After the long flight from Virginia to Turkey, Annie sat out today’s match against Korea “to rest.” Ashley Evans & Danielle Cuttino played the entire match, a 3-0 win. Despite the sweep, the 2nd set was close with USA avoiding several Korean set points and USA finally winning 27-25.

The announcers were constantly complimenting Ashely’s setting and serving skills along with Danielle’s prowess as a blocker and her kills.

Purdue is showing up to make us proud.

Tremendous game today in Antalya, Turkey between the USA and Turkey. USA won the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores, then lost the 3rd 22-25 and got pulverized in the 4th 11-25. At one point Turkey scored like 10 straight points in the 4th set and it looked pretty hopeless for USA.

But in the 5th set the USA and Annie Drews came out aggressively and stayed in command throughout, winning the set and the match 15-9, much to the disappointment of the rabid (but polite) Turkish fans that had packed their auditorium. (I can’t find the attendance but there were no empty seats.) It had to be 10,000 plus.

Purdue’s Annie Drews led in scoring with 19 and is pretty clearly the seasoned veteran leader of this team. She was interviewed after the game just as Cuttino was after yesterday’s game. Nice showing for Purdue.

It is sure nice that there are no line judges and balls are determined in/out immediately electonically. I wonder how long it will be before the NCAA can equip cameras in arenas to do that?

So at the end of the first of the four weeks Purdue is perfect at 4-0 as is China and Poland. There is still a long way to go.

Thanks for catching that, Jeff. Yes, it is hard not to think of this team as Purdue's team. Grin.

Just 3 more months until the real thing. I think Dave's team actually has a good chance to win the B1G (if they can get the setter situation ironed out) . That would be wonderful for him.

I wondered if it was intentional - and honestly I thought it was clever! Easy to be super proud of these Purdue VB alums leading USA.
Agree with you about the upcoming season. Future looks amazing
