Ugly win

So credit where credit is due, AOC came in and lead us to a win. And did it with a very depleted team which says something and while not perfect, a win is a win.

And a huge shout out to Bret B, your very bad decision to not go for it was huge.

Re Aiden O.... God help him when he makes his mistakes.
You ain't gonna win this one. I think the masses would prefer him to take shots downfield and maybe rely on our defense to hold (which they did admirably), when he makes mistakes. When he makes no mistakes, we see how easy it looks.

There's not a d@mn thing here for me to ... "win" ... and suggesting such a thing is one of the viruses infesting this forum.

Why is the QB spot always a question mark? Gone are the days of one QB starting multiple games

They showed an injury list and Illinois had the same number of injuries including their top rushers and receiver

More often than not the INT's have come from WR's not making the catch...can live with that. I was on an airplane trying to watch it through Live Stream but the wifi was gawd-aweful..so I only heard what sounded like 1 of the 2 INT's being off a should-have-been catch, again

Correct. First one was a
Bad choice. 2nd was a bad play by Bilodeau. Luckily, it seems we have a D that can get stops and get us the ball back…I’m a little more open to turn over risk when it’s not handing the opposing team an automatic 7

I will still take AOC's mentality as an 'intelligent' gunslinger than a QB who seems to be indecisive as well as almost afraid to throw both over the middle as well as into a small window. It seems like the WR's are more 'ready' when AOC is out there because they know he will try to thread the needle...so they know they are almost always open

I'm glad we are 3-1, but not impressed. Kudos to the improved defense. Recruiting has got to pick up though. How can we have no backs and no receivers behind Bell and Horvath? Every starter we lose is like falling off a cliff.

No receivers behind Bell? WTF are you watching? Milton Wright, ARY, and TJ Sheffield won this game today with AOC throwing it to them.

Does kind of make me question JB’s QB evaluation process. Takes 3-4 games every year for him to realize he’s starting the wrong guy.

There were quite a few drops. Yes we made ONE TD drive. Thankfully that was enough to beat god awful Illinois. Won't beat anyone that matters.

Yeah, that isn’t good…right?? Thank goodness we have a respectable record after the fourth game this time!

Which passes did ARY and Sheffield drop? Wright had a bad drop at the beginning of the game - that’s it for these three. The TEs had some bounce off their hands. You said WRs.
Admit it, you were talking out of your @$$ before. We’re 3-1 and that’s all that matters right now.

Yeah, sorry. I took that as you were upset by his tendency to make mistakes. He’s a kid and he’ll do that. As jmohlman and others have noted, he’s been mostly accurate and those mistakes have, for the most part, been on the receivers. Didn’t mean to offend on this one. Let’s enjoy the dub.

Second time I have seen this take this year and I will respond the same way. Picked the correct qb last year and he got hurt. Picked the correct qb the year before and he got hurt. The qb changing has been dictated by injuries much of the time.

Imo this is the first year that the backup qb looks substantially better than the starter.

I have posted many times that I think we can win with both qbs. I am not sure that is true now. For whatever reason Plummer is completely unwilling to throw downfield. At the game today the crowd was groaning loudly 2-3 times when Plummer had options wide open down the field and didn’t pull the trigger.

Brohm may have thought that with a suspect OL, he needed the more mobile QB, when really the QB who gets rid of the ball quicker is the better option.

Sort of like the Colts QB situation. OL not as good this year so far, and they’d be better off with a guy like Rivers who gets rid of the ball, than they are with a mobile guy like Wentz who holds on to it.

Recruiting has picked up…see the defense for proof. But yes, we do need a good RB stable and more good OL

With a RB that could manufacture yards, JP might have been the right choice. Beat a decent OSU team after all. By the way, how much do we need to appreciate Horvath right about now?
