Tyger Campbell to Depaul

I would really like to see DePaul return to its late 70's early 80's form. Different time I know, but man they were THE story in Chicagoland during those winters. Fun times and fun teams.

Tyger will be a very good player, but they will need a lot more to become relevant again. Poaching from Lalu certainly is a good start though. That MSU lock was just too strong I guess.

You don't want Northwestern to have the premier men's hoops program in Chi-town?

Does this make anyone start questioning Lutz' recruiting ability, or is he still the greatest assistant coach ever? This is the second one of his recruits that signed elsewhere this weekend.

A sample size of 2 is nothing to beginning drawing conclusions from.

Tyger is following his former coach so not sure what you are getting at. Perhaps another argument?

Big wiff for Izzo. This is the 5th or 6th sure locks that he has lost. Wow. Maybe he is losing his touch.

As for Purdue, did we even have a school out to this guy?

Took the words right out of my mouth. #FireIzzo is trending on Twitter as we speak.

APB in East Lansing states a riot has started in the quad.

Perhaps you are right! Call me skeptical! Or perhaps I'm tired of posters posting like they know everything when they don't! I can count over 20 posts made that said Lutz was recruiting Tyler And la lum real hard and. Blah, blah blah ! The posts made it appear that with Lutz, Tyler would be an easy recruit! It makes me wonder how many of those other posts were made the same way! Some of your posters credibility is waning.

Let's just say we each have separate opinions, And none of us truly knows what's going on in a kid's mind. And before I say Lultz is a great coach and recruiter, I want to see some accomplishments first!

Izzo is having a really bad week! He even got out recruited by Illinois of all teams!

Good get for DePaul for sure.....

Purdue will be fine...we have Eastern already coming in, potentially Llewellyn/Phinisse/Alvarez for 2018 and J. Francis (highly recruited) and I. Thompson under the radar in 2019.....can score and run the point like his brother but needs to add core strength.

Boiler Up!

Big wiff? Campbell reclassified for 2018. Foster Loyer is committed for 2018. 2 point guards in the same class? Campbell playing time would be severely limited behind Winston and Loyer who many say is greatly underrated.

There is so much here, but I will break it down as best as I can.

1) The comment you are responding to is sarcasm, addressing the fact that every time Painter misses a recruit, the world ends and Painter should be fired.

2) The comment also very subtly addresses the facts that MSU never misses on a recruit so Painter should be fired.

3) Foster Loyer? Over one of the top rated incoming PGs. This story was all over national news media and twitter. I just now learned who Loyer was. Yes... I can see how they are the same.

4) Campbell absolutely would not sit behind Loyer. There is no way other than injuries or some sort of arrest, which at MSU wouldn't surprise me.

5) I leave you with this quote from the big Lebowski

"So you have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know..."

I follow this board pretty intensely and didn't really see a bunch of people posting about Lutz hauling in in this kid and others at a whim because he was at Purdue now. I find you being tired of posters posting like they know everything when they don't hysterical given your own personal history of posting.

I found it hilarious that the recruit was so important he got the name wrong. Called him Tyler multiple times.

I also find it hilarious that somehow the assistant coach that has been here for a handful of weeks is at fault. Other big name coaches, Izzo, also missed. The only thing Tyger going to DePaul means is that he wants to follow his coach.

Briefly it was mentioned that Lutz had a good relationship with Tyger, but never did anybody on any of the forums, that I read, imply that Lutz made Tyger a lock to Purdue. He was considered a MSU lock the day he set foot at Lalu.

It's going to be a long recruiting season if you jump off that ledge every time somebody signs someplace other than Purdue. Focus on the realistic targets. There is a pool of about 10 guys Purdue is hard targeting and they have a good chance at them. The ideal class would be 2 guards, a wing, and a big man. Add a second big man if Biggie doesn't return and we don't spend that scholarship for the '17 class.

If Lutz can land Embery, I would be ecstatic. I don't excpect the impact will be Lutz landing two to three 4* players by himself. If he can get Embery and then help snag one of the Michigan big men, I would call that maximized return. It is far to early to call Lutz a failure for two targets that were not main focus targets. Tyger was a '19 target and the other guy that went to Oklahoma wasn't focused on and therefor was already unlikely.

There are very, very few "easy" recruits, and you seem to be the only one who had that takeaway from all of these alleged posts. Maybe you were making bad assumptions and/or reading (way) too much into the information that was given.

Nah, that can't be it.

I didn eget his name wrong. my computer's auto correct decided tha t should be his name and I'm too lazy to correct it. and for some reason if I type more than two charcters per minute , this forum furzes up as if it only accepts ts typed from cell phones. the above paragraph / post was typed correctly.

As for lultz, one of the first posts that talked about him said he was recruiting Tyger from his Creighton days. and that was repeated by several other posters in various threads.

Sorry for the negativity on your parade, but many of you argue with each other constantly even without my off the wall comments. if we could just get Phinisee to be our first commitment, we'd have world peace. I heard a rumor that we'll know more tomorrow. I'm just trying to fit in. And it looks as if I'm already being compared to one of the board's most prolific posters - NAG ! At least I'm not the guy with over 10,000 posts and only 34 likes.

Typical replies . I didn't say any recruit would be an easy recruit. I was quoting what you implied. However, I do get tired of the overly optimistic homerism on this board. I get tired of people saying somebody is the greatest ever when they haven't done anything yet. and that goes for football.

two of the players Lultz was recruiting signed elsewhere this weekend. Were they easy recruits? Would Purdue have been able to sign Tyger if we had given his la lum coach a job rather than Lultz? Would Painter have been able to sign Porter if we gave his dad a job?

in one minute, you claim Eastern is a tremendous addition. in the next you say, well, he's not going to take away minutes from my favorite player Cline. if he's as great as you claimed before we signed him, he's going to take somebody's minutes ! then you say end of discussion and keep on talking. and you call me hilarious. kennyboiler and Apollo11 would be so proud.

Before I question whether one of our former assistant coaches is NOT a good coach I also would like to see more evidence...

Many things don't compute! sometimes the word you refers to more than one person. I guess I should have used the phrase youze guys instead of the word you. Or to make life simpler, Painter should have fired Lultz and hired the la lum coach ourselves !

But on the positive side, now that the la lum coach is no longer there, maybe our recruitment of their players will improve.
