He's finished with his Depaul OV. Will he make a decision before/on Wednesday?

I recall Nojel deciding on the last day of the early signing period as well. His suspected top 3 also happened to be Purdue, Depaul, and MSU.

I still think that if he decides early it will be Purdue. Also, yes I'm aware that MSU is out of it

Will CMP tell Tyger now or never?

Doubt he gives an ultimatum but he will probably recruit others and when the scholarship is gone it's gone. I mean we have four senior starters this year and nobody except Carsen probably has a starting spot carved out for next year just yet. There will be other high level players emerge who would be interested in coming into a good program with many pieces around them with a chance to start from day one. Tyger is a good player but we're not going to stop all other recruiting for him if he would rather wait on something else or go to DePaul than come here.

my own belief : if Tyger signs early, it will be with Purdue. if he doesn't, Purdue will start looking elsewhere and will sign a late blooming player.

As I see it, the only reason for Tyger to not sign early is he's hoping for a better offer. And once Tyger sits down and evaluates the entire college scene, he'll see that those other colleges have already used up all the scholarships they are going to give out. and those better offers are not going to be coming later. the vast majority of blue blood teams have either given out their offers or they are waiting for different players to sign. it's not like Tyger is waiting for Langford to sign, and the school that misses out is going to sign Tyger. Purdue is probably the best offer Tyger will receive now and/or later. it's a matter of does Tyger want to play on a great team like Purdue where there will be competition at his position. or does he want to play for a lesser school where the competition is less and his playing time might be more.?

As I see it, next year, Purdue could have a 3 man back court of Edwards, Eastern and Hunter with Cline pushing for a starting role as well. That's one very intimidating and talented backcourt. Add Tyger to that foursome would be huge. however, it would be hard for Tyger to gain a starting position as a freshman. And it would be hard for him to be a star as a sophomore as well. Purdue is going to have a loaded team this year, next year and the following year. if Tyger wants to be part of a loaded team, Purdue is a blue blood team with .potential championships and a final four in sight. But if he wants to be a star player and have the spotlight, then he's going to have to look elsewhere.

the problem will be the same with all blue blood teams. And Purdue is becoming a blue blood team. There is elite competition at every position on our team. and that's the same for all blue blood teams. People are saying Haarms is better than Haas. if we didn't have PJ, Eastern could start. Even Grady could find significant playing time for many teams. Wheeler is redshirting because of our talent. and next year we're adding Hunter, Tre and Dow. All three of those players have the talent to start for many other teams as freshmen.. if Tyger wants to be part of this train, Painter has made it clear he wants him. but if he doesn't, this locomotive has enough steam and power to make its way to the championship train station without him.

as it stands now, it appears that Painter has made his pitch to both Tyger and Ramey. I doubt he wants to sign both players. But he definitely wants to sign one of the two. and if they pass on the opportunity to sign this week, I have to believe Painter will move on and find somebody else. Much like Dow, Painter wants Tyger. but the decision is Tyger's to make. It would awesome if he chose Purdue.

If not, Eastern has looked pretty awesome lately as well. and a backcourt next year of Edwards, Eastern, Cline, and Hunter will be one of the best in college basketball. Tyger has a chance to join it. but that chance is now.

Not sure Dow would start on many other teams. I think he'll be a project. Keep in mind he's only been playing ball for 4 years and although he passes the eye ball test, he's got a long way to go before he's competing against other Big10 big men.

I think you are correct in this assumption...especially considering that he has only really played 2 or 3 years of organized ball. He is going to be a very good player...especially given he will get to play against Haarms, Taylor, Ewing, and Williams for multiple years. By his junior and senior year, he'll be an absolute nightmare for other teams to play against. My guess is he'll be a RS candidate with the other bigs on the roster.

I think that if Tyger waits, Purdue will continue to recruit him as hard as ever.

This season will be a great opportunity to demonstrate to Tyger what a great offer he has from Purdue. There’s no reason why Tyger shouldn’t be able to take a quick drive down I-65 to experience Mackey at its best.

I like the extended time because it allows CMP to show how much Purdue truly has to offer with the departure of PJ and potentially allow Hunter to show through his play about what a duo those two could become coming off the bench together. CMP has no difficulties playing the guys minutes when the deserve...especially in a game. Tyger would provide an immediate upgrade from PJ (although I truly value PJ as a player and felt he is really underappreciated)...but Tyger is a top flight recruit for a reason. Having Carsen and Eastern start with Hunter and Tyger to come in off the bench would allow CMP to mix and match at that 1 and 2 position along with being able to pair one or both Tyger and Hunter with either Carsen or Eastern. That would solidify the 1-2 and even the 3 (with Eastern in there with Carsen and Hunter/Tyger) when needed.

CMP will be able to sell a lot of positives over the long haul as Tyger sees more and more of Purdue and maybe getting him on an unofficial during a big time home game (would like something like Louisville or NU for the B1G home opener since the students will still be on campus).

I know conspiracy theories abound, but if he doesn't commit by Wednesday, he us clearly looking/hoping for a new offer

I would tend to agree, I think that Purdue is probably his favorite option for what is available logically but I doubt he loves it. If he doesn't commit soon their is a good chance he is gone unless he really values staying close to home. He is too good of a recruit for another program to not want him in the spring stuff happens.

Yeah I would bet that Painter would sign Both of them if they wanted to come they are too good of players for a team that recruits on the level that Purdue does to be that choosy

Not that the signing both scenario has any chance to happen because they would both have to be in love with Purdue to both sign at the same position

I'll disagree. on the basis that when Painter received a commitment from Dow, he informed two other big men he was no longer interested, and canceled their official visits. Painter could have easily signed Castleman with one of those two scholarships, but he let him pursue other options. I highly believe he'll do the exact same thing with Tyger and Ramey. if one of the two signs, I believe he'll inform the other one he's no longer interested and the last scholarship will go to a wing. and possibly a grad transfer. Unlike Hazell, Painter doesn't stockpile talented players at the same position.

Getting Dow gave Purdue 6 players at the 4 and 5 spots in 2018. There was no more room for any other bigs. There is plenty of room for more guards in 2018. If Ramey and Tyger both wanted to come here CMP would definitely take them both. However, there is really no point in debating this, because Purdue and Ramey haven't been mentioned together since the week Ramey de-committed.

Painter said himself the other day they will sign 4 max....the ball is in Tyger and Ramey's court......if they wait too long the back up plan is to pick up best player available that fits the program in the Spring and then hopefully sign I. Thompson for 2019 at PG.

Purdue is in a good spot and the more the position of PG stays open and is a need the more future recruits will take notice and want to come to Purdue.

Who's this person Hazell???

Wasn't that an old 50s TV show?

He better jump on board before the train leaves the station!

So, with tomorrow being the last day for signing day, any chance Tyger sign's last minute?
Word I am hearing is that he is passing on signing until spring. I think he is trying to springboard his senior year to other offers...problem is the bigger programs have yet to comeback calling and doubt they do. If that’s the case, I’d want to find a player who wants to be here through his own want and not as part of a hold-out/back-up Plan.

I say keep recruiting him. He doesn’t owe Purdue anything and he believes in himself. He wanted to have choices and I can understand that. I think that if Purdue sticks with him and he does ultimately choose Purdue, he’ll buy into the program completely when he does choose to commit.

He's had his chance.I say move on. There will be plenty of point guards banging on Purdue's door by the spring. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
If by move on you mean recruit other point guards, I agree. If by move on you mean pull the scholarship offer, I disagree.

Tyger isn’t being double-minded by waiting for spring, in my opinion. He’s never been completely sold on Purdue. I see no reason for Painter to overreact to that. Painter just needs to let him know that the offer is on the table and if Tyger doesn’t take it, that’s perfectly fine and Painter will look elsewhere.

Yes that is what I meant, recruit other point guards. As far as the comments about double minded, I was referring to his commitment to DePaul.

To me it appears Painter is waiting this week for Ramey and Tyger. if they sign, great, if they don't, Painter is likely to expand his recruiting search, and make additional offers.

Somebody should inform Tyger those blue blood offers he's waiting for aren't coming as teams like UK, Kansas, MSU and Duke are already maxed out or are already loaded up with guards. he can wait until the Spring if he wants, but his status/value is not really going to change much over where he currently is.

logically, Purdue will probably be the best offer he receives. I'm sure Purdue will keep the offer open. But they are not going to keep it open and wait until Tyger makes up his mind.

I'm sure the rankings will change between now and the Spring. Tyger may very well move up, but so will somebody else. And Tyger is already a known commodity. If a blue blood isn't interested by now, I doubt any movement in the rankings is going to change their mind. LaLum could win a national championship, but Duke and the others still aren't going to offer him. On the other side of the coin, while Tyger waits, he risks both an injury unknown rising to the top and taking his offer.

By not signing early, Tyger sends out one big signal. He's not as interested in Purdue as Painter is in him. Maybe he'll end up back at DePaul, Xavier or Marquette or Creighton, Dayton or Whicita St. Teams like Iowa, OSU, NW may have openings.

he made a mistake committing to De Paul early and reclassifying. if he had stayed in the class of 2019, he may have received better offers. in my opinion, an offer from Purdue is an offer from a perennial top 15; sweet 16 school. he's not going to get many offers better than that.
