Two potential candidates

both are Notre Dame alums. One is a successful second year coach at Miami of Ohio. The other is a longtime Muffet McGraw assistant whose son is a CMP recruiting target.

Megan Duffty is a proven head coach. She would be a great choice if she is willing to move. My son is a professor at Miami and a season ticket holder. The love her!!

any love for Katie Gerald’s?

Never recruited at major college level. Never a major college assistant. The Illinois women’s coach won five Division III national champions and 85% of her games at that level. First year at Illinois 9-22 and 0-16 in Big Ten. Second year 10-19 and 2-16 in Big Ten.

If I got to vote, I would say Ivey. Notre Dame has been where Purdue’s women’s basketball team should have been over the last 10 years. If Purdue could steal her away, the value is there. There may be some proven coaches, but why not swing for the fences? The upside is there and the resumé is certainly there as an assistant of a championship team and a team that has been in the discussion for winning a championship pretty consistently over her 11 year tenure.

Career assistants of her longevity seldom do well elsewhere and struggle when they replace the legends they served loyally for decades. How well has Pat Summit’s longtime assistant Holly Warlick done? What about her longtime assistant and associate HC Mickie DeMoss who failed at Florida and Kentucky. Can you name a longtime assistant coach had played for and assisted a legend who left and enjoyed success? Great coaches do not want to sit around and wait. Ivey played at ND 1996-2001. Played in the the WNBA 2001-2005. Was an Adminstrative Asst at Xavier Wbb 2005-2007 and has been at Notre Dame the last 12 years.
Looks like she is Muffet’s Lady In waiting and that is no guarantee of success has I stated above.

Notre Dame has been elite at recruiting. If you can take away their head of recruiting, I think you have to. Plus Purdue has some pieces going forward that would be attractive to a coach. It is absolutely worth a shot. Especially if she truly is a coach in waiting for the Notre Dame position, you would be better of doing whatever you can to regain the position of the top women’s basketball program in the state.

We will just have to disagree. I think Purdue does not need to hire a coach for OJT and especially one likely to walk for a dream job. Forget the training wheels and hire a coach who has proven success as an assistant and paid their dues and has been a proven winner and successful at recruiting as a head coach for several years or more. Big Ten coach with previous tenures at successful Division I college programs= Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, Wisconsin. Non Division I Head Coach=Illinois. No Head Coach Experience=Minnesota Pending coaching hire=Penn State.

Can we all agree it’s time to try someone new at Purdue? I’m surprised Bobinski isn’t putting an end to this miserable situation. And no one is probably more miserable than Versyp herself.
I'd like to try being miserable making $600,000 plus coaching basketball.
