In an interview on The Athletic (link below), he said he's tired of stuff blowing up. If you aren't aware, he turned his back on UNC's Joel Berry when Berry tried to confront him about a call and of course outrage ensued (because that is what we do). And of course the blowhard Jay Bilas was front an center causing a stir.
I was surprised to learn from the article that the B1G took him off their rotation for last weekend (he was supposed to work two games).
Personally, I've come around on him. He used to be much more inclined to want to be part of the show and I thought he was a poor official but I actually think he's one of the better ones out there now and would hate to see him go.
