A couple weeks ago, I posted that I think Trump will start pre-empting debates with things like the moderators are biased (particularly if they bothered asking a follow-up question when he doesn't answer a question) or threaten not to participate. Basically part of his strategy is if something doesn't go his way, it's corrupt!

Well, it's started!

Trump has now complained that the debate schedule is rigged and was rigged by Clinton and the Democrats. Except that the debates were scheduled last September by a nonpartisan commission that includes Democrats and Republicans and does not consult either party in the process.

So he's making things up to make him look like the victim - again. This is what he does - he creates drama to deflect from the real issues at hand - in this case, Presidential debates which, unlike primary debates, are very serious and substantive on issues.

Many are already speculating he's just planting seeds in order to threaten to drop one of the debates, or to put pressure on the debates to be more favorable to him - such as including other Presidential candidates whether they've hit the 15% polling rule or not (which has been in place for years). It's also noted that he has not been involved with the commission that organizes the debates, which is typically well under way by now.

Agreed that Trump's posturing on this is both silly and predictable.

That said, and I'm kind of changing the subject here (away from Trump), would it have killed the debate commission to recognize that Monday Night Football has literally been the most watched series on cable television for the past decade, and to have factored that in during debate scheduling?? Even Sunday Night Football last year averaged 23M viewers.

I don't really think colliding with the NFL will necessarily help or hurt either candidate, I just think it's poor scheduling if you're trying to maximize eyeballs on the debate, which I would've thought would've been one of the debate commission's primary objectives.

Absolutely! I've always been pretty conservative and thought that voting for a third party was a wasted vote, but I'm seriously considering for the first time in my life (age 54). I despise Hillary a little more than Trump, so can I live with voting for a third party candidate resulting in helping Hillary get elected?

An NFL spokesman said in a statement, however, "We did not write a letter, but we obviously prefer the debates on a different night than scheduled games."
A Trump campaign source told ABC News that "Mr. Trump was made aware of the conflicting dates by a source close to the league. It's unfortunate that millions of voters will be disenfranchised by these chosen dates."

So while he didn't get a physical letter, he got a message. There you go. Truth in lending.

Trump's flaws are more obvious. For years Bill and Hillary have been involved in a worldwide shakedown of banks, foreign governments and industries for "donations" to the Clinton Foundation. Obviously the money was given with the expectation for favorable consideration when Hillary ascends to her throne.

If ever we needed a third candidate, this is the year. I'd vote for Bernie, Mitch Daniels, Blumenthal, Al Gore, Marco Rubio or Joe Sixpack ahead of Hillary or Trump.

"a source close to the league" is NOT the same thing as saying you got a letter from the NFL. And quite frankly - using "a source close to the league" is BS because they can simply make that up! A "source close to the league" could be your uncle for all anyone knows. That means they don't work for the NFL. He simply made crap up on the fly like he always does.

Trump has lied over and over - you can basically find something a day that he just makes up on the spot. This weekend, he also had no clue about Ukraine in an interview - then a day after it's aired and he's criticized, goes on to say oh yeah I knew about it. Uh, sure ya did.

It's also not new that these debates have been scheduled for nearly a year. This was not something that just happened. If he had a problem - why did it just now come up?

He also claimed Clinton was somehow involved in the scheduling - when again, this schedule was done a long time ago and is done by a commission not involved with politics, either or either campaigns.

Trump even said that: "I don’t know how the dates were picked."

If he doesn't know, then how does he know they're rigged against him by the Clinton campaign? Again, he's talking in circles. It's all a bunch of BS.

In 2012, the debates fell on a Monday Night Football game and a Thursday night football game. Was anyone outraged then? No? Ok.

And again, what days are great for NOTHING being on TV, sports or otherwise? Keep in mind, you also have Major League Baseball. In September, you have 30 teams playing in games every day of the week except mainly Mondays. Then you go into playoffs, held on every day of the week. In 2012, there was a game 7 of the NL Championship series the same night as the debate AND a Monday Night Football game! The horrors!

This is just a ploy for Trump to start manipulating the debates, just like he did in the GOP primary. I called it two weeks ago and so have many others.
