We all know that recruiting ranking is just one service's opinion over another one. I saw this on 247Sports, and I thought it was interesting. It looks like it goes back to the class of 2001. It looks like it gives our top 250 ranked Purdue high school/Juco recruits over the last 18 years.

It was interesting to see some of these names on Purdue's All Time Recruits. I had forgotten so many of these names until I saw them again. It is interesting that our current class placed 3 in the top 10, and that our biggest star on our current roster was only 10th, which shows that recruit rankings are definitely not an exact science.

So what is that, only 2 of the 6 "former" players in the top 10 even played significant time at Purdue? I don't even remember Ellis.

Lymon played 2 years
Orton started 4 years
Watson played quite a bit his last 2 years on campus. Unfortunately, he was hazelled. Probably should have been a guard instead of a DT.

Ellis was a LB recruit that never qualified to enroll.

Yeah I was talking Orton and Watson. As far as I remember, Lymon had 1 monster game and that's about it so I wasn't including him.

Lymon had the big game against ND, and got into a paintball incident that night and went downhill from there.

That is an incredible stat. Has to be some sort of record. Hopefully these seven have different fates than many others on that top 25 list. I have a belief that Purdue in the past has gotten some 5 stars who just want to be the big fish in the small pond, and that hardly ever works out well. I suspect with the culture Brohm has created he will have better results.

Surprised Kevin Noel wasn’t on that list. A.T. Simpson was another one, but he was before 2001 I think.

Crazy how many of the 2019 class are in the top 25.

25% to be exact although its only 5% of the 19 year period. Brohm is probably the best recruiter Purdue has ever had, even more than Tiller. This program can really ascend to the top pretty quickly, especially since we play in the West division.

As a HC, he’s probably the best along with Mollenkopf. Fat Jack got a lot of great players to come to Purdue.
