I know rankings don't mean a lot this time of year (other than a bit more media attention which is good for benefit of the doubt and recruiting exposure), but PU did not move up (a bit surprising), ND didn't move down (not surprising), and IU is sitting right behind PU (haha!). Is the media bias against "lowly" Purdue real? Won't matter if the boys in gold & black keep winning. BTFU!

I was surprised that there was no upward palcement. Given losses ahead of us, I would have expected some. I cannot prove it, but I have noticed a consistent lack of "appreciation" for Purdue in the national press even when things are going well for us. Of course, the recent FB experience would play a part but I also believe that this was also a result of MB1's lack of attention to media relations. I suspect that the SID's office was also a part of the program that was shortchanged.

What losses? UNC lost to #6 Kentucky and IU lost to #18 Butler. IU dropped below us but Butler passed us because they have more quality wins (which offsets their bad loss).

Butler has 3 top 50 wins. We have 1.
If you don't like the #15 ranking don't look at our RPI..

The media is talking the Boilers up, but it's mostly in terms of how dangerous we "could" be. If they can grab a couple of good road wins, I would imagine we will have our share of media attention. I like where we are right now. If we break into the top 10 by the end of January, we should be able to sustain that range heading into the tourney with solid play.

ND moved down (#21 to #25)

I thought we should have moved up to 13th or 14th. The biggest thing bugging me right now about the polls is having Wisconsin above us. I think our resume is more impressive than theirs at this point. I see Koenig is still playing, I thought he was a senior a couple of years ago. He is pretty dangerous; if we can shut him down, I think we get the W when we play them on January 8th!

OMG! The RPI is a joke. The RPI should definitely not be used by anyone to determine a team's tournament worthiness. For example, 8 and 3 Florida is ranked 4th, 12 and 0 UCLA is 19th, and 10 and 2 us is 30th! Really?? The RPI should be disbanded or reformulated so that it is not complete fantasy.

ZZ posted a link to an article about tournament selection metrics......here's more for you "junkies" like me....this is the principles and procedures document from last year's selection committee....to get down into the "weeds" on how they put the bracket together and what steps they take. There is also a section toward the end discussing RPI.

Pure speculation here...and in the "way too early category" right now, I see Purdue in the 3-6 seed range window. If there was extraordinary performance in conference play, MAYBE the 2-seed line might be available depending upon other factors. Of course, a poor conference showing, and the seeding drops....a disaster and.....well, we don't want to think about that. Winning either of the Villanova or Louisville games would have helped the seeding.....probably at least a line....JMHO.

Only losses are to #1 undefeated defending national champs in a close game, and to the #10 team on the road in another close game. Not too shabby a resume. Let's hope for no bad losses (though odds are there will be 1-2 somewhere down the road) and this team should get a good seed if they take of the games they are favored in.

If IU makes a few more baskets against Butler and FW, they would be #1. I think rankings in December are a joke anyways. Conference play will separate teams.

Dumb. If Purdue makes a few more buckets against Nova and Louisville, they would be number one. What's your point?

IU has a fascinating resume. They've played four games against KenPom top 100 opponents and are 2-2. Every other game they have played has been against a team currently at 263rd or worse and Austin Peay won't help that metric.

Whoever does your schedule should be fired.
