I saw this is another post (would cite it but I cannot find it). I love the idea of naming the actual field at Ross Ade after Tiller. He was a true Purdue man, both on and off the field, and his success, despite underfunding from and being nudged out by Morgue, really saved the athletic department.

Tiller established a brand and identity for Purdue football. After two failed attempts, our new AD has hired a football coach who understands what works at Purdue. And to no surprise, the stadium has filled back up almost immediately.

Perhaps permanently linking "basketball on grass" to the field at Ross Ade will establish an identity for Purdue football once and for all.

It also reminds all QB recruits to know that Purdue is QB University. It was in the 60's thru early 80's then again thru Tiller's era and it should be engrained forevermore.

Think of the money the athletic department could raise in support of football improvements in Tiller's name. People adored this guy.

I believe for at least for the remainder of this season this would be a great idea. Logo's facing the East and West stands with TILLER COURT in larger print with Basketball on Grass in smaller letters underneath would say it all for me!

All Exceptional idea’s for sure, he was a Real Man On and Off the field! Great memories for players and fans alike, just so sad for him to be gone at 74. All the best to his loving family during this very tough time. God Bless ya, Joe T.

I'm not sure most everyone would get the "court" reference. I like "Tiller Field at Ross-Ade Stadium". We have "Keady Court at Mackey Arena"....same idea.
But in today's world, it's not as if the background for the name wouldn't be easily located.
I kinda like the idea as much as anything in that it may result in some less informed becoming informed. It surely would lead to explanation in virtually every TV and radio broadcast.

However, I would prefer Tiller Field @ Ross Ade Stadium. Put it on the the wraps that go around the fencing at the field level, put it on the Jumbotron, and put up a permanent archway where the train goes with Tiller Field. Also, as an homage to the 'Basketball on Grass' idea, why not paint the field in some semblance like the basketball court...obviously without the lane and the arc. I'll provide a picture of my idea when I can get it done and uploaded.

Too bad nobody thinks of this stuff until after Coach Tiller has passed!

Purdue did dedicate Joe Tiller drive a couple years ago. I got to chat with coach Tiller at the unveiling. As usual, it was a pleasure and a privilege. I think coach knew how much his Purdue family loved him.
