What will we be? I could see us moving up maybe a spot with a couple losses above us. We didn't help our resume, but we also didn't hurt it with a bad loss, so that's good.

Actually, the number of votes between 8th and 15th is pretty close. If we can win our next 5, with road wins over Michigan and Minnesota (not necessarily an easy task, but I have faith in our guys) we will be solidly in the top 10 on January 15th.

If we could survive at michigan, and at minnesota look out...I think we split that though.

If we get the split, we hopefully will be 16 and 3 meaning we took care of business in the next upcoming 3 games. If that happens, I think we stay in the 14 to 16 range. Lose both and we would be 15 and 4 and probably ranked 22nd or 23rd. Win all 5 and we are 17 and 2 and I would guess ranked 8th! One can only hope! Would really be nice to get a 3 seed or higher at the end of the year! For that to happen we need to win these tough road games.

This is where the WKU loss kills us. And also the BIG 10 losing so many non-conference games. If we lose 2 of our next 5 games and have 4 early losses, I would suspect us to totally drop out of the top 25 and be replaced by a team that's not currently ranked from a stronger conference! While we believe in our Boilers, there are plenty of other teams currently with 2-3 losses who are not currently ranked who would love to take our place. On the other hand if we win all 5 games, And because of their non-conference losses, I don't see wins over mich and minn propelling us into the top 10 as I don't believe we will see a top 10 team losing! Let's face reality, for us to move up, it's rather out of our hands and we have to hope other teams lose

Purdue is ranked 14 they win they’re next 5 games I can assure you they will be in the top 10

I will admit I have not looked at the other top 10 teams' schedules for the next week. Is there a game that stands out where a top 10 team may lose? I think there may be a couple of holiday tournaments where anything could happen. Was there a preseason NIT this year? Has the Hawaii tourney happened? I haven't heard much about either tourney this year. I do believe now is the time when the top 10 schools have their last chance to make a statement in non-conference games and you may start to see the top 15 INCLUDING PURDUE start to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.

I truly believe Purdue will win at least 4 of their next 5 games and I expect them to win every game. However, without looking at the schedules of other teams, I'm unsure how far up in the ratings they will climb! It's nice to be back among the top 15!

From what I've seen Purdue is a better team than Wich St, West Virginia, Virginia, TCU.

Those teams should fall back as conference play starts. Wich State being in American Conference is huge, as they will be exposed to a few more Ls now that they play Cincinnati, SMU, etc.

The Western Kentucky loss is the only bad loss Purdue can afford from here on out if they want to be taken seriously by voters and end year in top 10.

Have you watched Minnesota recently?? There's a well deserved reason why they dropped so in the polls. If we play our game I really don't think they are an issue at all!

I could see Virginia, TCU Arizona St, WV and Xavier losing - the most likely are TCU and Virginia. Kansas will move up, but how far will Virginia fall ?

A healthy and regrouped Arizona will beat ASU. That win should propel Arizona back into the top 15, and with their popularity among voters, they could surpass Purdue. Rather than a quality win for Purdue, the voters will say Arizona was missing a key player when they played us. If Arizona wins, how far will ASU fall?

that's the problem with voters. if a team starts out rated high, even when they lose they don't fall very far. and if they bounce back and win after several losses, they zoom right back to the top. I could easily see Arizona zooming back to the top 10 if they beat ASU. Why? Simply because they're Arizona.

I think Virginia, Texas A&M, Xavier and TCU are the most over rated teams. Will they slip and fall? The problem with TCU is they play those three teams within the top 18. With a convincing victory, one of those three teams could move up.

My pessimistic prediction: Arizona beats ASU and passes Purdue. Kansas beats Virginia, and moves up. Butler beats Xavier. TCU loses 1 game. Purdue climbs to 13 ahead of TCU and Virgina, but Arizona climbs to 10. Xavier and ASU fall to 11 and 12.

I'm not saying that's right. I'm just speculating what the voters will do after anticipated losses. Purdue will move up, but we need some solid 15-20 point wins to move up more than 1-2 spots.

that's my point. I don't believe Purdue will have any problem beating Minnesota. However, since minny has looked so bad lately, I doubt even a 20 point win will have any influence or impact on the voting. beat minny is no longer a great quality win. But it would be considered an ugly loss.

Maybe 12th. I'm expecting a bunch of losses, but I don't believe the losers will fall very far.

the best examples are the Virginia / Kansas and ASU/ARiz games. I expect the lower ranked teams to win, but how far will ASU and Virginia fall? I suspect both will fall to the teens. somewhere in that 10-15 area. I believe the voting for the 10-15 area is going to be really close. With so few good teams out West, I could see Arizona getting a lot of votes. I'm not saying they deserve it. I just think the western voters will vote for them and ignore their three early losses.

Purdue needs to take care of business and not worry about the ratings. typically when Purdue climbs into the top 10 or has an opportunity to get into the top 10, they lay an egg.
