> maybe the “hazell left the cupboard bare” stuff was legit (I’ll get back around to that).

> Ohio state is not as good as their pub .. let’s hope they win this game and then we still have a chance for big upset

> the big reason they aren’t that good is that going with a new young QB is not easy. No matter how good you’re supposed to be, there is some learning on the job MOST of the time as a redshirt freshman.

and that’s where brohm has set himself up nicely.. plummer looks like a new guy and then they can go to Oconnell if they need him. Plummer probably starts this year and next, but even if he were to go down next year or lose the job, Michael Alaimo will have been on campus for a few years by next year. And then you have Brady allen. He won’t be starting over and having to take the hit of a new young guy trying to settle in.

yeah someone could have just posted a thread “Ohio state is overrated” but I think that that’s why and it’s an opportunity to give brohm some pub.

you look back to David Blough leaving and Elijah sindelar getting hurt and there really wasn’t that guy who should have been recruited late in hazell’s tenure. Plummer got thrown to the wolves (or horned frogs) similar to stroud starting now. But now brohm has put together a nice room.

Osu is good, they just don’t know what to do when they get punched in the mouth. They roll over the big ten and are never tested
They are good of course. Right now I think as much as what you said, they are suffering from relying on a young QB.. now, that’s for a different reason than it would be here.. it’s because at their level it’s a merry go round.. but that’s what it is. If the QB was back there slinging dimes they’d be up 28-14

I can’t fathom how their lb Corp is so shitty. Used to be their calling card

Their defense isn't #3 good right now. Minny scored too many points and Oregon's on their way to doing so. They may win the game. But they always seem to start out their season really slow and then look unstoppable by end of season.

I think it’s also the deliberate slow nature of their QB play. Even when I thought we’d go 5-7 (I’m leaning 6-6 now) i thought we’d overperform against Ohio state and ND.

They need to focus and not be looking ahead to Nov. 13.

Oregon's strategy of shutting down OSUs run game (without having Thibodeaux) is working relatively well. It may haunt them later in the game. But it's keeping them in the game right now.

They’re making stroud beat them with accurate throws later in his reads and he can’t … that’s what I’m getting at. This time next year probably whole different game

Yes, although it also helps when you have a guy like Bosa or Young up front. I don't think they're as good as last year.....agree that the lack of challenge from conference foes catches up to them at times.

here is where I think transfers will figure BIG. The big schools will take the top freshman qB's coming in, but if they don't perform they'll go (and get) a high performer upper classman from another school.

That's already been happening. Oklahoma says hello...

Ohio State sure didn’t get much bang for the Buck in the loss today.

Totally agree. OSU always starts slow. And it always haunts them playoff time...
They had over 600 yards of offense again today and shot themselves in the foot on a few drives. Nobody is going to stop that offense in the B1G.

Their defense, however, is horrible again this year (like last year). If they can improve their defense to just "OK", nobody in the B1G will beat them going forward. Their DC Coombs is under a lot of heat right now - and rightly so

I agree. Coombs is probably sweating things right now.

I wiil have to check out OSUs message boards tomorrow. Some of their fans will want Day fired.
Not Day - they want to lynch DC Coombs. They basically had to outscore everyone last year with Coombs as DC and it looks like they'll have to do it again this year. If anything, just a bad hire by Day who runs the offense

Just wondering.. is there a better player on either side of the ball in the big ten than bell and karlaftis ?

You may be correct, but I still chuckle whenever I recall how the Buckeye fans wanted Tressell fired after Purdue beat them in 2009 and they cried their eyes out and demanded Meyer to be canned after the 49 to 20 whipping from three seasons ago.

Did you forget about Penix?
I never thought he was as good as those two but when healthy I thought he could play. Didn’t know he was a sitting duck in that brace now.

looks like, much like Purdue losing assistants under tiller, deboer might have been the reason for the season in Bloomington

I was kidding.

Ohio State's QB is taking too long to get into the game flow. It seems that it is taking 1-1/2 quarters for him to settle into the game and start consistently hitting his receivers. The man is young. He may grow out of this.
Also, Ohio State went for it like 5 times on 4th down and didn't convert the first 3. If they kick field goals, that game could have been a lot tighter at the end. This is on thier coaches.
