Well, he hasn't been that consistent against GOOD teams. Nice to see him get his 3 stroke going last night, but games like last night are meaningless once they become Ws on the schedule. They're not really tests.
Carsen had a good game - inside the 3 point arc - against Butler. He was still 1-5 from 3.
Against NW, he was 3-7 for 6 points in a game we were somewhat lucky to win - and 0-3 from 3.
Against MD, he had a good game inside the arc - 5-11 overall and 2-6 from 3.
Against Louisville, he was 2-11 from the field.
When he's "on" from 3, he can be scary good - look at AZ (although that game was like the perfect storm as basically everyone was on). We just can't afford him to have games like NW where he was a relative non-factor and while he got to the FT line, against Louisville the shooting was bad.
I think we can take those NW and Louisville games - both wins. What we can't have are the Tenn (5 of 17, 21 pts) and WKU (6 TOs) games - both losses. He's not (or anyone) isn't going to go off each and every game.
As for the games you mentioned:
Against NW, it was a close game, we took good shots,
fed Haas and we won. Carsen played stout defense. Also, he might have scored more but he didn't finish that game after taking the hit from Lindsey. Cline in his place hit three big 3s all of which were shots that regained the lead for Purdue.
Against Louisville, it wasn't his night offensively, which is okay. 11 shots is ok when he's not on.
Glad he didn't force 17. Boilers win.
If Carsen wanted to score more, he easily could. Same could be said for Isaac and Vince. The benefit for the team is more wins and he has a much higher shooting percentage this year (50% FG vs 38% last year).
Honestly, the thing I love about this team more than those of the past is that players aren't playing or forcing things just to get theirs. In fact, that is what makes this team so
dangerous and efficient. Isaac can dominate. Vince can realistically put up 20+ pts any game. Dakota can realistically give you 15+ any game. Carsen can go off any game. It's the defense that determine who does well for Purdue, but Purdue wins.
I love how Carsen and all the players are running offense and playing defense. I can't recall a Boiler team having so many different ways to beat an opponent. Boiler Up!
