The students DO NOT care anymore

There is this popular app called YikYak that students use. Its like an anonymous twitter that only shows results within 2 miles. Anyway, when I go on there and see students talk about football, they just talk about how its a lost cause. With the announcement of the fundraiser at Purdue for over 2 billion dollars there was some talk about how none of it is going to athletics. The majority of the students think that it shouldn't be used on athletics because we are an academic institution.

This mentality is NOT GOOD for Purdue sports. The fact students think sports don't matter is worrying. They basically look at us as a Chicago school but we have athletics that suck. The students should want to be proud of the schools sports! But instead they put if off and act like it doesn't exist.

Purdue sports support (mostly football) is in the worst state I have ever seen.

F-ink dick brain millenials. I'd love to ask one of them why they don't care except I'm not sure I'd keep focus while the student said "like" 40 times in one sentence.

Oh, and I'm sure they'd find a way to work "no problem" into the last place it belongs in the English language...

Give them something to support and they will.

They likely do not want to have to walk around their employer's office with a bag over their head during football season so change the subject to academics. It is a pathetic situation for Boilers in all walks of life.

It's across the board...not just limited to students. Just look at the volumes of posts on this message board. It is way down compared to past years.

And all of the posts are about firing Burke and/or Hazell, not football.

Its because school cost way more these days and also our sports team suck major ass.

And like because like I mean like, if you like go to the game and it's like cloudy you can like forget reception. No problem
You got us... f`ck off bro. Most recent grads and current student didn't watch the Brees years. You know what the most successful season at purdue for me was 6 and 6 winning the pizza bowl.

Lucky you! My first Purdue game was Fred Akers first game. I think a minute something to go in the tied game, and we had the ball on their 20 something 4th down and he punts! NO Field goal try for the win?!! He eFFF ing punted, that bleeping bleep sucker! A punt that if I remember right netted less than 10 yards!! Against Louisville!! The second I saw that I knew we were eFFFF'd as long as he was coach.

Get off their backs, BoilermakerD. You've got a problem with the state of the football program? Fine. Direct your anger where it belongs, at the athletic leadership. Beating a straw man stereotype about college students just makes you sound petty.

Students will pack Mackey this winter, and they'll get behind football when there's something to get behind. Most of these kids have never seen a B1G victory at Ross-Ade.

How can anyone care now about Purdue Football? Worst team in the country, not getting any better, everyone sees it, nothing being done about it, after a while you let it go! Oops I forgot, we hear alot of excuses and BS every week, does that count as doing something?

Don't blame the students. They were there for the ISU and VaTech games. But who wants to waste time supporting this train wreck of a team? Quite frankly, it's empty seats that sends a message loud and clear. Now whether Burke gets that message is another thing.

Wow. Crazy to think the freshman and sophomores have never seen Purdue beat a B1G team at home. What a sad time we are in.

I don't want to hear this crap about students not caring anymore. The staff and team had a chance to ignite the fan base and we showed up accordingly for the ISU and VTech games. Hell even the BG game had a great turnout considering the ass kicking VTech put on us just the week before. But damn after that Minn game? What do you expect? I was there right down by the north end zone embarrassed to be there during that 3rd quarter. The students will care if you put even a half way decent product on the field. Not the abomination that is Purdue "Football" right now.
