Wherever my wife tells me I should be
I very recently had the opportunity to spend some time on campus (I have more tuition money heading their way).

This will be my 2nd child going to Indiana's premier University, so I've been back and have tooled around campus before. I have to say, if you don't know what Purdue is (and continues to become), you're missing out.

It is a beautiful campus, with unbelievable growth.

There is construction everywhere, and more on the horizon.

The research going on is indescribable.

University leadership is the best I've ever seen.

It is TRULY a great time to be a Boilermaker.

I agree with your observations and with regard to the beauty of the campus, I have witnessed a great transformation from when I was a student till now. The fans of that school down south still claim that their campus is far more appealing but I have been to both campuses numerous times over the years and while there is no denying that southern Indiana school has a beautiful natural surrounding, the actual campus looks tired and in some places rundown and seems to lack any master planning while Purdue’s campus has obviously benefitted from urban planning and looks very integrated with a blend of functionally and aesthetically pleasing features. The “beauty” that these campus rankings tout about IU is biased by the surrounding area but the actual campus is really lacking. The most beautiful campus I have seen is Wake Forest and it appears to be the result of excellent urban planning also. THE Ohio State campus is the least desirable that I have seen.

Wait until you see the new campus master plan Purdue will unveil over the coming days. More green space and some really cool gateway entrances.

Poor IU is living off that Cutters 70’s movie

The removal of all the service roads in campus has made a tremendous impact on the atmosphere and aesthetics. I was skeptical of all the pomp and circumstance of the state street project but I am seeing that as tranformational for the southeast and southwest corners. Once traffic is shifted south, the state street towers are constructed, and the new dorms are complete Purdue’s campus will be one of the most walkable campuses. I wonder if the off-site apartment complexes will take a major hit or transition to a different market.

you liked Wake over Chapel Hill?

I haven’t been to Chapel Hill but I have been to Dukes campus and I think Wakes is more beautiful than Dukes. Oh, and Cameron Indoor is a dumpy little gym. Friends and i were touring duke campus and couldn’t believe how non descript Cameron is. Several Indiana HS gyms are nicer and maybe bigger.

Yeah I hadn’t been on campus for about 10 years until the Missouri game. Truly impressive and I had multiple Mizzou fans mention how beautiful the campus was.

I haven't been on campus since I graduated over 50 years ago, so it's interesting to read about some of the changes. Unfortunately, Purdue sits in a part of the country I have no desire or reason to visit again, but I would love to see the campus.
