...this team has packed it in! Never have witnessed a Purdue women's team playing this poorly, and without any heart. This marks the second time in two years that they have been thoroughly embarressed by the lowly IU program. I understand Perry is out, and we have no bench, but what happened to fundamental basketball. Will they win another? Not likely the way they are playing now. Next year can't get here soon enough!

Crashing and burning or better, a smoldering candle. You can see it in the body language. Bays looks like she is wearing a mask. Sorry for her. This team has nothing now. Probably first WBB team to finish with a losing record since the 80's. Since before Versyp. Very, very disappointing.

Time to shake the bush and bring in a new coach, now. NOW. I have been a big supporter of CSV in the past but her teams have gone steadily downhill. Fans have come to expect 20+ turnovers a game, poor shooting, and nothing resembling an offense.

Has anyone noticed the drop in attendance as the year goes on? I am a long time season ticket holder that will not be renewing my season tickets (club seats) next year if Versyp is still here. I am tired of getting mad at the just plain bad basketball on the court, yet trying to stay till the end of the game to support the ladies.

We may lose a couple of ladies in the heralded class coming in, but if they are as good as advertised they will just postpone a decision on the coach another couple years and we will not get back to the real success Boilers have come to expect.

I'm sure she has some excuse

for yet another poor season.
This of course is the worst since we've been following the team(mid 90's).

I doubt if Burke makes a change.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

I like Morgan Burke. I believe he has done a tremendous job for Purdue. I am glad we do not churn coaches like the revolving door of many other D1 schools.

However, I believe MB is a money guy. When attendance is dropping, the market is talking. I think he will listen to the market and make a change that will be in everyone's best interest, including Versyp. She has become complacent.

The question is whether he will make that change in time and bring in a new coach that will get the players and fans excited about the future of women's basketball at Purdue. The ticket sales were there this year, but the attendance has dropped dramatically. I am betting season ticket sales will drop next year, also. I won't be renewing mine if this coach is still here.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

Wow. You are clearly in the minority in your opinion of Burke. Other lists I am on lay the drop in football, the rise in prices, the falling attendance and the screw you alums attitude right at his feet. He has done a lot for the non revenue sports (like the one he was involved in) but the bigger ones have struggled--especially the cash cows of football and MBB. If he remotely cared about the fans, he would not have jacked up prices, changed seating and gone for cheap in Danny Hope. He should have retired years ago but instead, we gave him a raise!

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

He "went for the cheap" when he hired Joe Tiller. that worked out pretty well. Yes, he got lucky with that one and yes, Hope did not work out. However, overall he has a pretty successful track record with coaches in every other sport and built new facilities in virtually every sport that were ALL in terrible shape due to no attention by any of the previous ADs.

He has done what needed done and kept us in the black without hiring any "winning at all costs" coaches that would have us dealing with NCAA and PR nightmares. Look around. Tell me an athletic director you would rather have?

That being said, it is time for a change in regards to women's basketball.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

He oversaw the on,y two NCAA Probations in Purdue athletic history. He is the first AD in BIg Ten history to have football and mbb finish last in a twelve team conference. He was AD for the first football program to finish last in a 14 team conference.

Funny how a probation is no big deal to you when it reflects on Curry but when you apply it to Burke it's a huge deal.

We have no bench because we refuse to play our first year players early in the season so they can develop(unless we our forced). If they are good enough to recruit then they should be good enough to play and allowed to develop. What success we have had under Versyp were with Curry's recruits and Maryland transfers.
Burke and Versyp have turned a great program to a middle of the pack team in what has become a lesser conference in womens basketball.

He thinks it's a big deal with Curry but also thinks we choose the wrong replacement.Maybe we could get Goestenkors to take the job she is only 51.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

GG flamed out at Texas--just like Curry did at A&M. I'm thinking that if and when Purdue makes a change, they might be smarter to go with somebody who has not flamed out.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

There are coaches out there who could bring us back. We have a relatively large fan base, at least for now, and that has to be an appeal in the truncated world of WBB.

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

Who, specifically, do you have in mind? Just wondering...

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

Look who's talking. I spiced that with your username and just waited for yiour hypocrisy to show. Your are as predictable as a seventeen year Locust!

Re: I'm sure she has some excuse

Des and tcforthree. Sorry your egos are showing. Suggest you two back off and talk about the team. This ranting gets boring.
These WBB basketball team needs input not cat fighting.

I don't absolve Burke of anything. I just don't hold a vendetta against him like you. On the other hand, you praise Curry at every opportunity and then damn Burke for her program's violation. It's almost as ironic as you calling anyone else a hypocrite.
