I am curious. Does anyone else feel that missing a chip shot FG on the first drive may have had a demoralizing psychological effect on the team? I may sound silly to think something that small could get a team to say "screw it, we drove down the field, did everything pretty well in our execution and got nothing for it". It sure looked like the game was over after Maryland's first drive. No energy on defense. No heart by anyone the entire game. Almost like they quit because they didn't score.

I'm not trying to simplify the outcome to one play, but it sure seemed that the game was over before Maryland touched the ball. I see this all the time while watching my son play hockey in the USPHL. The team will dominate the game early but can't score. Then one mistake and they are down 0-1. Then the quicksand syndrome. Final score ends up 1-7. It's kinda like losing 7-50
