It makes one’s heart swell to see poor abused souls Bruce Pearl, Kelvin Sampson and Bill Self make such incredible recoveries in the face of such severe hardships imposed by others, like NCAA sanctions for repeated and/or ongoing violations. They’ve shown how to overcome suspensions and bans and even how to escape drawing any sanctions at all while bypassing bylaws and the like, serving as role models to basketball mentors everywhere. They’ve set the standards on how -- if you can dump and jump programs, latch onto a lesser academia ranked, say, 105th or 144th or 152nd and only hang on long enough -- the NCAA and its scribes eventually will forget, forgive and come around to your way of thinking and reward you with No. 1 seeds and excuses year after year. Because, after all, it is all about the payers. I mean, the players. Glory, glory hall-elude-ya!
