Haarms and Cline. Far from Purdue's 2 best players but with a razor thin bench they are extremely important IMO. When these 2 play well Purdue is on a whole other level. Happy to see both playing well and contributing. Merry Christmas Boilers!

Last night when Cline took that three on the fast break I knew it was going in before he left the ground. He needs a little space, but if he gets it he can light it up. If they are not, its time to start running some set for him and will probably only build his confidence.

Funny. Not quite comedy gold, but funny nonetheless.
What about my comment is off base? Purdue’s starting line up is frequently all in double figures and beyond but playing good defense and providing a combined 10 points, not much is truly needed from the bench on most nights to win, all things considered. Is Purdue incredibly hard to best of Cline or Haarms gets in double figures? Yes, but Purdue doesn’t have a razor thin bench as you stated. That would be the case if Purdue only played 6 guys...Purdue is usually 8 deep and some times gets to their 9th man on the bench. Anyone clamoring the need for a longer bench doesn’t truly understand the concepts of substitutions and usable minutes available for players. Analytically speaking, it isn’t good to play 10 guys...and typically it isn’t good to play only 6....and that doesn’t speak to anything Purdue currently does.

What makes you believe Purdue has a ‘razor thin bench’ as you yourself stated?

I agree with what you are saying here in terms of offense, although I wouldn't say Purdue has been razor thin. When Cline is hitting 3's and Haarms is hitting 15 footers or taking his man off dribble to the rim, it almost isn't fair in terms of what the other teams have to stop and it does take Purdue to another level.

On defense though, I think Cline and Haarms have played well all year, with Haarms being the better option obviously than Haas. Eastern's D has been really good of late too. It will get him more minutes at some point when Purdue plays a big PG trying to bully ball PJ in the lane (remember Tony Carr from last year?). Nojel will shut that down.
