That Butler win did not help us at all.

Butler was already ahead of us in RPI. Duke should drop below us now however.

I think we still have a chance. If we win the BTT, we will get the #3 seed, as long as we either win out or lose only one more game.

IMO: win out and get to the championship game of the B1G tournament.

We've often heard that the Sunday afternoon B1G championship game means that it really only matters to the bracket if there's a team in that game that won't get in unless they win.

I agree, I think the only way we get a #3 seed is if we win out the regular season and get to the BTT championship game. I think there is an outside chance we get a #2 seed if we win the BTT as well, but things would just need to fall in place just right. Glad to see Maryland lose last night - I think that gives us a little breathing room for the BIG regular season title depending of course on what Wisconsin does. Their remaining schedule looks mostly tough. (on the road against OSU and MSU, an easy Iowa game and then Minnesota at home - that won't be easy either).

The NCAA committee will have the seeds done by the time the BTT championship game is over with.

there is a slim to none chance Purdue get's a 2 seed. The conference is just too down this year; our ceiling is a #3 seed with 1st round games in Indy. Too many other teams that will grab those spots. Purdue wasn't even in the top 16 a few weeks ago for the top 4 seeds, they aren't moving 3 seed lines up in a month. It is what it is playing an awful IU team, Penn State and Northwestern won't help us, only hurt if we lose. We need to maintain and hope for some key losses over the next 2 weeks. I believe Florida beating Kentucky on Saturday would help us, as Kentucky is a boarderline 3 at this point and 1 spot ahead of us in the polls.

That's an interesting bracket for the Boilers.....if chalk holds, after Monmouth, it's the "Revenge Tour" of Cincinnati, Villanova, and Louisville. That would be sweet to pull that off in front of Mr. Slick.
Monmouth is a pretty good team coached by King Rice, played some good teams this year and would be a tough opening round opponent for anybody.

The job of working their way into a 3 seed just got harder for our Boilers. Butlers win over Nova puts them ahead of us.

Sadly, this is true. That was a bad result for the Boilers. Looks like the 3 seed will be the ceiling and it will take a little more than I was thinking to even get there. One more loss before the BTT will probably land Purdue on the 4 line. The team just didn't have enough chances for good wins this year and one or two too many losses to mediocre teams.

Doesn't mean, the team can't go on a run in the tourney though, it will be just a little tougher. Maybe Gonzaga ends up as their 1 and everything evens out. It's going to come down to the Boilers playing at their best regardless though. If the team can handle pressure and make shots there isn't a team in the nation it can't beat.

Butler could very well lose more games just like us but having 2 wins against Nova is something we won't be able to match. I'm torn between who I want to win the UF/UK game. I initially think Florida because they won't be competing for the Indy opening games but I can't say I trust the committee to seed UK behind us and give us Indy over them.

They have the seeding done before the BTT championship game accounting for either winner. The game may have minimal or no impact on the final seedings but the potential is there and winning that game is important especially if we win the regular season title outright. That coupled with a BTT champ would go a long way to separate us from the rest of the somewhat mediocre Big Ten.

To get a 2 seed at this point, there would need to be a full collapse of a Pacific 12, SEC, ACC, and Big 12 team ahead of us in addition. To us winning out. It could happen but Oregon pulling it out last night doesn't help. I would love to have a Butler 3 seed in a bracket. Put us with an Arizona 2 and a Gonzaga 1.

Definitely. Arizona as a 2 and Gonzaga as a 1 would be the bracket I'd like to be placed in. I'd be able to deal with being the 3 or the 4 in that bracket.
