May never know the mental health state, yet it seemed to loom large after he opted out of the NBA bubble.
Thank you for sharing your view and insight. An excellent read and indeed a comet that burned very bright albeit short lived at the young age of 25. 😢

That young man had an incredible story, and, Brian captured it really well...a great article.

My wife and I were talking last night...there were some polar extremes for Caleb in his short time on earth...and, unfortunately, while things were pretty great for him in ways from lets say 13/14 to about 23, the time before was anything but great, and, things since had taken a bad turn in more ways than not seemingly...so, in what was a really short life, with some incredible high points, there were more difficult/tough times and low points than not sadly.

He seemed to spend a lot of his life trying to overcome...he was dealt a poor hand....blessed to an extent, cursed as much (or more) to another.

He is not a direct Covid casualty, but, certainly an indirect one.

Good kid...big heart...good teammate and friend...few, if any, had a drive and passion like he did...as hard a worker as there possibly could be and he set a standard that nobody before or after has approached...gifted athlete and student...his story in having been a first-round NBA Draft pick was as amazing a story as there possibly could be...and, while that phase of his life did not end as he or anyone else would have hoped, the thought that his ultimate story would end as it has is even more amazing or incredible in a sad sense.

It seems like he spent a lot of his young life simply trying to survive...he found a brief window where he managed to thrive...to an incredible extent...but, most of it was spent just trying to survive and he ultimately lost that battle, way sooner than he should have unfortunately.
