He Matt, I think this is my good side. Do you think this is my good side? I'm just not sure. Wait, wait, wait...the green light is on. That means the camera is live, right? Are you sure this is my good side? Yeah..yeah...yeah...I think it's my good side.

For as much grief as TV Ted gets, Painter must have respect for him as they were cutting up towards the end of last night's game. The camera was on them during a late stoppage and they both seemed to be having a good time chatting together.

If you look back at Painter's coaching career up to this point, he has rarely been thrown out of games. I honestly think, although he does give the refs a good deal of grief about things at times (fouls against the bigs last season), he is highly respected. He doesn't showboat on the sidelines and he won't make a scene in game about a ref making a bad call. Frequently you see him trying to catch the eye or ear of a ref and keeps his comments clean and concise. I think that is highly appreciated by the refs.

I saw the same thing. Painter was making him laugh at something he said.

TV Ted isn't going away any time soon. We may as well try to remove any hostility between him and us, as it does nothing but hinder our team.

In my experience, Valentine tends to reward better athletes and the more publicised players. If there is a bang-bang play, he will ususally penalize the more awkward player. Often, that was often the Purdue guy over-acheiving on the court. Hence our general dislike of his work as a ref. We have better athletes now, so we tend to benefit a bit more from this bias.

Last night, I had some issues with his calls, but no single call stands out as an error, like the infamous goal tending call at IU. I thought there were a number of no-calls under the basket, Maybe! However, I did not see them when they were replayed, so maybe it was just my imagination. I also think we benefitted from some of those no-calls too.

Wait, wait ... you mean yelling, screaming and getting in the refs' faces isn't the only way to make a point?

That can't be true, Painter's big weakness is that he doesn't yell at the refs like Keady. I've read that on this board hundreds of times, so it must be true.

They did allow them to play a little bit last night, which was good to see.

I still think Haas gets a silly amount of fouls just because he is bigger than everyone else and they fall over when they hit him though.

They sure don't seem to be showing MP or us any appreciation. The fouls on our bigs last night were over 50% crap calls.

Valentine needs to retire soon (VERY SOON, please)....... he's getting to the point of an Ed Hightower

Tv: "I told you I would make sure iu would win in Bloomington. And I made sure it wasn't a reviewable call."
