I saw them last night for a bit, but after the bucket and visiting a bit I couldn't give you a lengthy report. First, I know the coaches. Head coach, Kathy Laden and her husband Jeff. Both played for Evansville. Kathis is maybe 6'1" or 6'2". Jeff is 6'9" and thir daughter is a 6' point guard that has her head up the second she gets the ball. I'm sure Purdue is aware of her and will see how she develops. I couldn't tell you if she is done growing or not. Her shooting pocket is a bit low, but with strength that will raise. She is a soph and will have a lot of schools looking at her with her size and skill down the road. Another coach is Kevin Bostic (who played for NW in high school and maybe went to a small school to play ball...I can't recall). Kevin's wife played ball at some college and I understand was pretty good. Their daughter (Kendall Bostic) is another soph that Purdue has offered...and if she were offered...I'm sure Madison Layden was offered as well.
That is 2. kendall bostic is a lot more filled out than she was last year. She plays inside and understands the game...made some good passes and such ...it is just so hard because good girls can't finish like much younger boys and so I really don't know how good a girl is. NW had a lefty girl that can stroke it from the three. I don't knwo who she is, but did see a merrill mentioned in the girls article and Merrill is a household name in that area. Maybe she is number 3...whoever she is. Number 4...I would have to watch them more before I knew that.
Basically, the team is huge for a small school and girls typically nto being aggressive do not attack the D and their (NW) size in traps and such is most of their offense. I know Kathie has used in the past a 2-2-1 press and she likes her bigs on the front of the press...which is many times not the best way. However her daughter can certainly play the frt. Kathy did run a 1-3-1 adn her teams will always share the balland play some D. This group of girls have ran over teams for many years...
