N Kentucky pg transfer visiting next week. Anyone know anything about him?

Hmmm I'm not sure 18 % 3 point percentage....... Maybe a freshman thing looks to be good other than that.

Persons had a standout freshman season at point guard @ NKU. He was named the Atlantic Sun's Freshman of the Year and was second team all-conference. Persons averaged 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He led the Norse in scoring and assists and was the only person in the conference to rank in the top 10 in scoring and assists while being in the top 20 in rebounding. His best game was against Jacksonville with 31point 12 R and 6A. Coach was fired so he should be immediately eligible. He was from Kokomo on that state runner up team. 6-3 Indiana All Star. His All Star Write up said, " He's pesky: One of the comparisons of Persons floating around during previous summer basketball seasons was to former Purdue guard Chris Kramer. He appreciated that. Sounds like the kind of player you want on your team but would dread playing against." Also played some football in HS. Already tore his ACL in High School, and rebounded to have nice HS & college start to career. With the tore ACL.....he is a natural Boiler! Shoots 76% at the line. Did have the strange 18% from 3, but did not take that many, and 2+ TO per game. I think this guy is tough hard nosed player that makes the team better. Would be around awhile as he was on the All star team with PJT. I kinda hope he comes here. Would Painter take 2PG this off season??.....I think we have the room, and we need the depth. Him being around awhile...that affects future classes, but we need a solid PG badly, and he does offer size there also, like J. Hill does. We will see?

I think I was wrong???....unless the player is granted a waiver by the NCAA he has to sit out one year.

The 3 ball is over-rated. FT% is as well. As long as he can defend then we have a spot for him. We're digging deep into some major conference talent for our guards.

He's too good of foul shooter, how would that work out? Seriously, he looks like the Persons, I mean person we could use.

Oh no, He spells his first name different, he could be in a world of hurt here.

I can't believe Purdue is considering this kid. I remember seeing him in hs a few times and couldn't believe he was going to NKU. He's more like 6'1, not a very good athlete and a poor outside shooter. Never been a true PG either. He is a very tough kid and had a nice year at a bad low major but if Painter wastes a scholarship on this kid then I will be extremely disappointed.

Couldn't disagree more ovr the three pointer being overrated ... It would be if defenders didnt know to sag off if you cant hit it...But he was a freshman his ft shooting says he can shoot. I'd love to get him in black and gold

Really, freshman of the year in a D1 conference & you say not good enough for Purdue? Guess we are just busting out at talent in his position then....oh wait.

How can two people who have watched him play come away with such different opinions?

I personally dont put much stock into that ^^^ website but that's just me. With that said I'd love to have this kid

We have two schollies. Obviously we hope to get a fifth year senior PG with one but that is our only major need and I don't mind burning the last one on someone who is going to crank up the intensity at practice. Then you have 3 upperclassmen point guards going into 2016 with one of them pushing the other two big time. You only have 3 schollies left for 2016 but honestly how many holes will we have? We will need another big man to play with Haas and maybe another big guard? And chances are we will get a transfer somewhere in there.

Travis from H&R would love anybody from Kokomo on Purdue. I don't think this kid is a Big 10 caliber athlete, let alone a PG.

I have no idea if this kid is going to get an offer, but, he has proven he can play at a pretty high level against some decent to very good teams. I'm not seeing many 2016 hs guards who are knocking my socks off right now.

prefer the kid from UTA.

I'm taking a wait and see attitude on this one, but what Persons accomplished as a true freshman is impressive and if Painter thinks he's a good fit, I expect that he'll get an offer.

Is this the kid from Kokomo who tore Blackmon a new one in the Sectional Blackmon's first year at Marion? If so, he's pretty decent.
He pretty much ended Blackmon's senior season too. That was on one leg after he sat out most the season with an ACL.

pulling for kokomo (friends with a guy that was JV there for several years) and must say kokomo was allowed to play more physical than the Big allows when someone is dribbling. Persons can shoot the ball, strong and mentally tough, but not sure how quick he is from the little I saw...and quickness is not a strength in this Purdue team...

TJ, are you a Marion fan? I've heard a lot of Marion folks whining about the physical play of that game. I think he'd bring something to the Boilers, but like you I just don't see B10 quickness that's needed

no not a Marion fan in particular. Just know a lot of people at Kokomo as i live close. I didn't think it was dirty or excessive, but in the Big where they call a foul on the dribble if you are breathing on them...it was physical. I saw Bryson guard James Blackmon in the senior/junior all star game at Tipton and thought James was not at his best when Bryson got a little physical with him as well...
