Alright for some reason I am more worried about the Iowa game than any other this season . I know they aren't the greatest this year but this is a classic trap game.

And they are our most hated rival.

Someone talk me off the ledge or get me a beer!

They score 81/game but also give up 76/game, so I expect some points will be scored. In their last two games they've hung 104 on Illinois but followed that up with a 16 point drubbing at Rutgers.

Purdue hasn't played very well in Iowa City lately, but this group of seniors is motivated.

I say Purdue takes it 78-67.

Fran has been uncharacteristically stable this year (or at least any outburst has been under-the-radar). Even with a rebuilding/down mode year, perhaps he brings it out for the rivalry.......maybe Francon 4/3 tomorrow as it's the only regular-season meeting this year.

While I tend to be on the more cautious side - there's no guarantees. People are acting like this is a walk in the park. If Iowa plays a typical game and Purdue plays a typical game, sure we should win. However, if we play like we did vs. Northwestern and Nebraska - and Iowa plays well, we could be in trouble.

We've been a better team than Iowa and lost before. Not saying we're going to - but I also wouldn't dismiss it.

He was ejected in their game against Maryland a couple weeks ago.

Thank you for the update as I missed that.

All kidding aside with Fran, although I agree that if the Boilers play their game and play smart, Iowa should not be able to match it, yes.....it's a road game in conference.....and you never know....I think the Boilers would have to have a letdown, but that's not to say it couldn't happen as what Ibodel mentioned. I think Northwestern played one of their better games against Purdue, so who's to say the Hawkeyes couldn't.

The good thing with the Boilers this year is when they turn up the defense, even if the shots aren't falling or they go into one of their semi-careless lulls on offense, they can ride it out and sometimes still extend the lead. Having the seniors really helps......plenty more challenging games left.....I would be surprised if the Boilers weren't ready for this one given this is another arena circled on the calendar.

We shall see.....long way to go. And after this game, there's two more different challenges next week....it doesn't stop.

Minny had a lot more talent and we ran them out of their own gym.

Pressure their guards, make them pay for doubling the post, get them caught in defensive rotations and find the open man. Simple.
PU just needs to take care of business and we win by 20.

More worried about Michigan at home. Trap game before IU.

I would assume the guys from OMHR school have this list.

Haven’t you posted this same fear for the last three of four games?

Alright I'm feeling a tad better, play our game and we'll be fine. I'll put my faith in the seniors and let it ride.

I hate these noon starts though.

I don’t think people are dismissing them... I just think Boilermakers take our Senior Class very seriously. And this game at Iowa is the next box on our Seniors list. More importantly our Seniors take their list verrrrrry seriously. Does that mean a win is automatic...no. But it does mean these Seniors aren’t overlooking the Hawkeyes.

I don't see how any big 10 teams will overlook another opponents in any game. That's just excuse for not playing well enough.

Teammates, coaches, and family of Chris Street will be there to observe the 25th anniversary of his death.

Wow, that was sad. It is hard to believe it has been 25 years. I read another article where it said former Boiler assistant Paul Lusk was his roommate when he played at Iowa before transferring to Southern Illinois.

This senior class has yet to win at Iowa and Illinois.........and I'm sure they know that. If they lose, it won't be because they overlooked them. BUMF!!

I am calling this year the "Purdue basketball revenge tour." So far we have a Butler beatdown on national tv, a comical win at Michigan that would give Nelson Muntz a woody, and we burned down the barn. All of our past foes will fall victim to our vengeance this year. Iowa will nit be spared! I hope we get Duke, cincinasty, and Nova in the tourney. Payback time is here...
Feel better?

My post had nothing to do with overlooking or taking a team seriously. The fact of the matter is that we haven't played well in multiple games this year. A couple we lost, most of them we won. I don't think Purdue "didn't try" against Northwestern, for example. I think we just didn't play that well (we shot 30% from 3 - while NW had one of their better offensive games). We were lucky to get a W that game. And that's my point....if we play our "bottom 20%" game and a bad team like Iowa happens to play one of their top 20% games - we could be in for it. Obviously those chances aren't 50/50 (...more like 20%...) so I don't expect it, but I certainly recognize that Purdue has been vulnerable this year.

My response was to your opening “ people are acting like this is a walk in the park”.... or words to that effect. I took that statement to mean we weren’t taking them seriously or overlooking them. Thus my response. If I miss interrupted that statement my apologies....Have no idea what else you could have meant.

It's gonna be a walk in the park. Purdue is gonna trash this team - probably by 25+ and maybe 30+. Even a subpar effort by Purdue will result in a big win. No worries. This Iowa team is historically bad.

Then again we could lose.

I went ahead and started my grieving process Wednesday just in case, so I have already made my piece with a loss tomorrow.. Now let’s come back home, get another win streak started against Michigan, and we’ll be just fine!

Why is our fanbase so pessimistic about every game? I realize the odds are against us to go undefeated in B1G play but why worry about every matchup (even against the worst teams) when you could just assume we're going to win until we don't?

I'm a glass half empty guy in normal life but you guys are bringing me down.

You're right. They may not do it, but they SHOULD win every game from now on.

Because being a Purdue fan means being repeatedly being kicked in the balls since 1980. Until I see them cut down the nets I'll continue to plan for the worst. I'm also a White Sox fan, I was sure Houston was gonna win 4 straight until konerko squeezed the 3rd out in the ninth. I don't don't speak for everyone, but pretty sure I'm not alone...
