Just for giggles, taking a look at the size and experience of both the Gold and Black teams for tomorrow's Spring Game.

- Black's defense will face a Gold O-line which is huge courtesy of Clements and Patterson! At 330.6 lbs[/B] per man, Gold would easily had been the largest O-Line in the B10 last year, besting Wisconsin's line by 13lbs per man. This is the largest O-line Purdue would have faced in the last 10 years with Maryland's 2006 Bowl team at 323.4lbs being the next highest. In terms of experience, they are well below the average for the league averaging 2.60[/B] years of experience; however they would be slightly more experienced than Purdue's line of last year (2.40 years). This group has two starters from last year and they have 49[/B] collective starts.

- This game's Black's D-Line (Panfil, Rouse, Howard, Miles) averages about 277.3 lbs, down slightly from 282.5 lbs during the regular season. They will be outweighed by the Gold O-line by only 53.3 lbs per man on average. Black's average experience is 3.00[/B] years, the same as in the regular season. The size of this group will be above average for a B10 team and slightly below average in terms of experience. As a unit they are relatively untested going into Saturday as they have 14[/B] collective starts with Howard having 10 by himself.[/B]

- Black's LBs (Garcia, Hudson, Herman) come in at 232.7 lbs but with just 2.67[/B] years of experience. That's about 10 lbs smaller but 1.33 years older than the starters during the regular season. As a group they have just 9 [/B]collective starts and Herman has all of those starts. Size wise, they would right at the average in the B10 but experience wise, they fall nearly a half year younger than the average B10 team.

- Black's O-line (Hedelin, King, Barron, Warburg, Yacoobi) will average 298.0 lbs per man, down 5.2lbs lbs from last year's starting group. This places them 6lbs below average for the B10. They average 2.40[/B] years of experience which is well below average for the B10 and exactly what last year's starting group averaged. This unit is, on average about a year to a year and half behind most of the other B10 O-Lines. Collectively, this group now has 24 [/B]starts among them. (Note that Hedelin's starts at JUCO aren't counted). They also have two starters from last season's group.

- At 273.3 lbs, Gold's D-line (Strausser, Watson, Replogle, Robinson) will be a bit undersized for the B10 and down about 9lbs from last season's starters. Their experience of a 2.75[/B] year average puts them well below average compared against other B10 teams and other Purdue 2014 season opponents. They'll be outweighed by Black's O-line by a just 14.7 lbs[/B] per man however. They feature 1 starter from last season and have a collective 18[/B] starts between them.

- The Gold LBs are well above average and would be the largest in the B10 as they come in at 247.0 lbs. Only Maryland (245.0lbs) and MSU (241.7lbs) would even come close. They are still on the younger side at 2.33 years, even though that's up a full year from last season. Two starters return from last year. Together they have 18 [/B]career starts.

Based on just the size and experience of the above groups, it would seem like Gold would tend to want to run the ball more behind their massive O-line, while Black and their smaller and perhaps more agile O-line may look to pass to gain their yards.

There are enough holes on both sides of the ball that the roster will look like Swiss Cheese for both sides, it will simply be a matter of who can compensate for, and "shrink" those holes.

Vegas has not weighed in on the game but I'd believe Gold will prevail.
