Not here to pour salt on a fresh wound. I have been there too many times to do that. But I do have a question and did not find an answer as I was browsing through the threads.
Why did Swanigan only play 23 minutes and I didn't see him in the game at the end?
I turned to another game when Purdue went up by 13 figuring it was over and then seen the last minute and the OT's
Foul trouble? Coaches decision? Injury?
I thought he was a solid play all year and was just curious.

Why is the sky above our heads? Why is water wet? Why is fire hot? Once you can give us the answer to those questions you'll be on your way to knowing as much as we do about why yesterday unfolded as it did.

That as much answers my question that I didn't miss anything and it was just Painter's decision.

.

Because of the turnovers. He had some again @ key times. Also had trouble guarding his guy again. Swanigan had so many turnovers this year his nickname really should be apple or cherry.

I have thought for some time this team would have been much better this year if Swanigan and Basil's redshirt situation were reversed...

Swanigan benefited a lot this year from playing, he will be really good next year, without him this year Purdue would not have been as good a team. He is a winner.

He knows what he needs to work on - heavily turnovers and defense. He had times where he played very under control and played well. I think he tried to do too much at times and when you start forcing things inside, turnovers happen.

Defense will be critical for him next year with Hammons gone. AJ cleaned up a lot of his mistakes for him. Isaac will be serviceable, but not as good individually as Hammons. However, a sound defensive pair in Swanigan and Haas can be as good as bad defensive Swanigan and Hammons.

I watched him play in HS several times up here in Ft Wayne against Carroll and other teams. I thought he was very slow and his shot was average. Just kind of was able to get numbers easily being so big against smaller players guarding him. He definitely needs some additional coaching. I thought he looked much better this year. Much more motivated. He should be a beast in time

needs to work on that left handed shot when he rolls into the lane.

Despite what everyone else says, I think it was just a poor decision on Painter's part.

I thought he was getting into groove at around the mid-point of the 2nd half. If you look at the game flow, he had a basket at 11:19, a rebound at 9:53, another basket at 9:19 and a rebound at 8:59. He then committed his second foul and we never heard from him again even when UALR was making their run. As their coach Beard said:

> "[In prep], we talked about, 'Do you think Purdue would match up with us or do you think it's going to be a deal where we're going to have to match up with them all game long?'" Beard said. "We never in our wildest dreams imagined they would match up with us. Late in the game when they did that, it brought us confidence. Looking around the huddle, This is real, this is our moment. They just matched up with us. Let's go play Little Rock basketball."

I don't know if Painter went small to match them. He went small with Cline and Dakota because ULR packing it in and leaving the perimeter open. We just couldn't match their barrage from 35 ft+.

Why did he not play much in that last game? because he was awful. NBA will draft him and then stick him on their development squad. One and done's are just ridiculous this year. I am kind of laughing at what's happening to Indiana....lol..... they are losing O.G. Anonoby, Thomas Bryant, & Troy Williams to the NBA, which will be announced about a week after their upcoming loss to North Carolina.

I think not playing Haas to give AJ a breather down the stretch was a worse decision by Painter than not playing Swanigan.

As far as Swanigan declaring, it's a positive IMO. He'll get solid feedback on what needs to work on. The new process is much better and really helps the athlete to not make a decision that's in his best interest.

whenever a player goes to the pros, its a positive for the coach , it makes him look that much better and for recruiting, its the best

You are laughing at IU. :)

Got to say, I didn't see this announcement coming this quickly. How many underclassmen have declared for the draft yet, anybody besides Simmons?

Regarding not hiring an agent... this is a win-win for both him and Purdue. Barnes is a former agent, but because their relationship is not a professional one (i.e. for hire), he gets all the benefit of an agent but without the repercussion of losing his eligibility. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.

So it should be really positive that IU will have all those players involved, right? So why would you be laughing?

because they are losing all of their talent for next year, making it easier for us (purdue) to succeed and we need all the help we can get (or should I say Painter needs all the help he can get)

He announced his intentions to enter the draft.. lol
There's nothing to laugh at. Any player with a shot at the NBA in the future should declare to get the GM / scout opinions and suggestions and to get draft camp experience.
