CLASS ACT!!!!!!
Which had to make a few on here grind their teeth in disapproval.Yea he came across as real mature. Loved that he called Coach Painter a great coach.
If you remember correctly, there were a few that "felt" and maybe "thought" that Biggie was really frustrated with Matt sitting him against UALR and that was a reason for him to declare. I think we must remember...we do NOT know much here as fans...only what we see...little substance of what goes on behind the curtain.Which had to make a few on here grind their teeth in disapproval.
Exactly right. We only get a portion of what goes on that is mired down in our perception at that instant which is usually not right. If you remember correctly, there were a few that "felt" and maybe "thought" that Biggie was really frustrated with Matt sitting him against UALR and that was a reason for him to declare. Mason has it in the bag. Senior point guard, 20ppg and on the best team in the nation/powerhouse program. Swanigan is an absolute stud though, best Purdue player since Big Dog...love watching him play
He'll still be a consensus AA, First team conference, conference POY, Academic 2nd Team AA, and will more than likely become a 1000 point player IF he can have a few big games and Purdue runs to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8...
The kid will have his number hanging from the rafters sooner rather than later.
Idea here that I would like to see: Purdue needs to create some statues to put outside of Mackey of the greats that have been here as a best of the best....Wooden, JBC, Big Dog, Mount, Biggie would be my first 5 IMO. How much of a great selling point would that be to bring big time recruits to Purdue and tell them...you leave a mark like Biggie did here and we'll not only hang your name and number from the rafters but we'll honor you with a statue. That would play to some of the confidence and typical ego the greats tend to have.

Very true! I would love to see them role out one statute per year at the start of the season. Considering Wooden already has his own stand-alone statute and location, I think either JBC, Big Dog, or Mount would have to be first.Terry Discharger needs to be in that group.

I've said this before in another post, but if forced to chose between soph Biggie and senior JJ, I'd take senior JJ. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Biggie fan and he deserves AA hours, BTPOY, etc, but I think JJ's senior year has less weaknesses than soph Biggie. JJ was also a monster on both offense AND defense. This also assumes this is CS's last year. If CS were to come back for another year (very unlikely), then I'd have to re-evaluate.He'll still be a consensus AA, First team conference, conference POY, Academic 2nd Team AA, and will more than likely become a 1000 point player IF he can have a few big games and Purdue runs to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8...

Thanks for sharing this, I didn't know about CBS - I've set my DVR to record the CBS news tonight!
And Steve Reid and Brian Cardinal. We could go on and on...and Dave Schellhase.

Interesting choice. My immediate reaction was to go with JJ too figuring that Swanigan has the edge in rebounding but JJ would have the edge in everything else. Then I got to thinking about how good Swanigan has shot the ball this year. I actually think Swanigan has the better overall offensive game because he can post up better and has more range. He's also the better rebounder. JJ has a big edge on defense and shot blocking. Swanigan turns the ball over more but we never really ran our offense primarily through JJ that I can recall so that's not really an apples-to-apples comparison.
How about we just put them on the same team together? JJ center and Swanigan at the 4?

Or biggie with etwaun, hummel, jj and lewis. Now THAT is a hell of a starting 5.You put JJ and Biggie on the floor at one time with PJT, Mathias, and Vince...that'd be a hell of a starting 5.
I know you wrote this as an opinion, but it is a fact. ESPN Sucks.ESPN is horrible. I feel dumber after watching their shows anymore.

Yep. And they wonder why ESPN has gone from being Disney's golden child to an anchor on their stock price. The 30-For-30 Films are good (O.J.: Made In America, Survive And Advance, etc.) and of course, the actual broadcast of sporting events. Other than that, every other show is less substantive (<tjreese will like this) than used it to be (ex.: SportsCenter) or worse than the shows they used to have 15-20 years ago (ex: First Take and SportsNation vs. Up Close and NFL Films Presents). It's been worse overall for a long time now.

not to mention some questionable investment/business decisions like with The Longhorn Network.
during my time at Purdue, Steve Reid was just amazing. I agree not worthy of a statue but he is a top 20 Boiler of all time, IMHO. he doesn't get the attention he deserves and I've never read his name on the thousands of posts I've seen on this site. he was probably our first great 3 point shooter...And Steve Reid and Brian Cardinal. We could go on and on...
Steve Reid? No. Pretty good player, but I don't think he's statue-worthy. Brian Cardinal is more debatable (four-year starter, similar numbers every season, and we know all about the hustle plays and toughness).

Was at that game. One of the best ever that I've seen in person.Loved watching Steve Reid, and I agree he might be underappreciated. There are some of us posters out there who recall his game and what he brought to the Boilermakers.
One of my favorite moments from him was the Iowa game that he stole down the stretch at Mackey. He was generally money from the FT line down the stretch as well.
