Interesting that Dave Doeren of NC State is also on the list. He's 19-21 at NC State with two minor bowl appearances.

I know at least some Purdue fans wanted him back in 2012. I was in the Hazell camp, but I would have embraced Doeren. Anyway, say he came to Purdue and did the same as he's done at NC State. What would the reaction of Purdue fans be?

Prob. pretty negative. At least lukewarm. Probably 50/50 for vs. against.

I think he's better than Hazell, but he's not a transformative type guy IMO.

19-21 with two minor bowl games and an 8-win season looks pretty good from where we're at now, but it's only a marginal improvement over DH1.

I guess it goes to show there are no sure bets in coaching hires.

I live in Raleigh, and the NC State beat reporter has been pretty harsh. Doeren probably started with significantly more resources than Hazell, so form him to be 19-21 is pretty disappointing.
