National Signing day is roughly 3 weeks away, correct? I understand that when you're a 5 star player or even 4 star player, rules don't exactly apply to you and teams will wait in most cases. With that said, has there been any indication from Swanigan that there's no timetable for his committment, or is he planning on signing on signing day? Maybe that "long way to go," really means 1 thing. He's waiting to see who declares for the NBA draft. Of the 7 teams remaining, I think that date only factors for 3 of the teams. MSU has no one left to lose, so that doesn't factor, Okafor is obviously gone for Duke, so he knows what's up there. Cal doesn't have anyone standing in his way. Chicago is an afterthought.

The three teams that have any implications are Kentucky, Arizona and Purdue. In terms of Kentucky, Cauley-Stein and Towns are gone, but what about Johnson and Lee (No way Lee goes in my mind, but Johnson could). In terms of Arizona, I don't think any 4 or 5's go, but if anyone does you'd have to figure it's Brandon Ashley who would affect him (Zeus ain't leaving). Arizona is clogged in the front court, but no one is really intimidating on that frontline for a guy like Swanigan.

From a Purdue perspective, everything hinges on Hammons obviously which to me, is the biggest unknown in his recruitment. We've heard it would be a positive for us if he left. We've also read it would be a positive if Hammons stayed and he'd be guaranteed to play the 4 at all times. So, really, we've learned nothing. Which probably means, this post is about nothing. Just reading the illiterate tea leaves, I think Hammons could end up being the biggest factor in the remainder of his recruitment. It's already spring, if it's a roster based decision, ours is the only real one that could have a remaining impact. If it's a tournament based decision, obviously MSU, Kentucky, Duke and Arizona have a lot left to say.
