Top stats to me: 31 assists to 9 turnovers, 17-20 FT.

Our shooting specialists were a bit cold, especially Cline, but others did fairly well so the overall % from 3 was not terrible. The shooters will come around.

Bigs did not disappoint; they dominated as expected in a game like this.

The efficiency of Johnny Hill! 3-3 FGs and no TOs in 16 minutes.

Purdue held the opposition to 10% FGs in the second half? This is a gonna be a fun season. Never felt so confident about a team since 2009.

there with you

Was Haas a dominant as the stats indicated?
let's just say Isaac is quicker this year, made some good passes he wouldn't have made last year and may have been perfect at the line (I seem to recall him hitting his first four although his wrist didn't look good on his first one). The player he was guarding didn't require a lot of focus as the guy would catch and not even face the basket many times making it easier for Isaac to roam a bit. Make no mistake...he has improved

He's improved on some things, but with a giant asterisk. How someone his size plays against a team like this is really hard to assess. There's only so much you can take away from games like this. Things like the free throw shooting has little to do with the opponent. Also nice to see low TOs (not Big Ten defense, but first games are typically sloppy).

17/20 from the line. That was great to see. Not expecting us to hit 85% for the season but in the middle 70's would be a great improvement over last year. Especially if Haas and Caleb shoot at a high clip because they are going to get there a lot.

Yes. I was at the game. BUT (of course there it is) one must consider the opponent. It looked like he had PJ guarding him in the post. He missed a couple short hooks but made more than he missed. And more often than not, he established his post position almost under the bucket. An easy layup from the post ensued.

What really impressed me other than his stat line?
1 He seemed more cognizant on D. Part of which is due to better mobility, but moreso general court awareness.
2 He really looked to pass from the post which I did not see last year. . Again, easier to do against small/lesser competition, but he displayed court awareness not seen last year - often in finding a cutting Biggie. Missed one pass when Biggie cut from weakside - was thrown slightly too hard/high, but would have been a nice dunk!
3. His free throw shooting and form looked good

From a technique viewpoint, I really liked the way he would establish position underneath and quickly turn and shoot without lowering the ball and/or taking the multiple power dribbles like he did in the intrasquad game (and most of the time last year). That should result in many fewer turnovers this season, and probably more points/minute for him too.
