Starting Line Up: Carsen v Cline

I know there has been much debate about Cline getting the starting nod recently over Carsen. Again, no one knows what has been happened in practice or what Painter is looking at when he makes these choices.

Doyel wrote an article about Carsen yesterday and perhaps this sheds some light. Carsen was benched/demoted to JV as a freshman and he said he never knew why. He talks about how it motivated him. Perhaps Painter knows why and is motivating him for a tourney run

Or we are reading more in to it than there really is. It may be as simple as Painter wanting to have someone out there to start over CE so he has time to let the butterflies subside and then come in and be effective and not nervous.

We're talking just a few minutes here too so it's not like CE is sitting out half the game then coming in cold. The debate over starting CE has gotten out of hand in my opinion because it isn't a big deal I don't think as we are making it on here.

I prefer CE coming off the bench because of the scoring punch he can provide. He makes your second unit so much more dangerous when he's playing well and provides that playmaker for that group.

I know there has been a lot of talk about Painter getting the right system guys. He wants guys who hate losing and the sting burns them up to motivate them to play better. I look at it as that as well as I have 0 clue of Painter's true motivation.

Think back to AJ - that was one unmotivated individual and Painter did a pretty good job with him.
