Is the Pickle a good place to eat? Every time I go in there there is an hour wait.... Not sure if it is the beer that's good or the food. Always end up over at jimmy johns. Please advise.

Surprisingly enough I have never had a wait, though I typically do not go on gameday. My lab is close enough for a quick lunch or drink post work.

You know whats really sad....? I have never been in Harry's and I spent 4 years at Purdue. Has anyone not been to Harrys?

The Parthenon or Taco Bell was the place to go for nourishment when I was there. Quincey's, Nicks, Edo's (aka Stabalizer), Pete's were the main places(besides Harrys) for the alcohol fix.

I went once as a student back in early 80's and a couple of times when my kids were at Purdue recently. That's it.

I only went into Harry's one time, didn't know anybody and left. My crowd was not into Harry's.
This was 1968-74.

Was the loose caboose a strip club?:oops:

No...lol! It was a bar just next to the original Pub as one crossed the bridge from West Laf into Laf....The front entrance was a red train caboose that had been expanded into a bar and pizza place...The football players use to like to hang out there..

Sounds like a great place. Sorry I missed it. I was there in the later half of the 80's.

It's a decent place. I worked there for a couple months and I would say the food is pretty good, especially the fried pickles.

One thing I'll point out is that the people who who BOH aren't the most sanitary:cool:

Voted last year as #1 College bar in the country....You really shouldn't miss it next time you return to West Laf...
