Yup. Really thought they might win this one, but they’ve struggled to put 4 good quarters together all year. Meantime, SJ shoots way above their season average from 3. Why does that always happen against Purdue? Both men & womens teams. It’s a damn curseThe ladies fall in a last second heartbreaker.
No it tells you something about the ability and athleticism of both teams to play good post AND perimeter defense. Other than Smith, Terry, Ellis, and Learn, this team is pretty slow on DYup. Terry had a poor game, not sure what was up with her, zero point’s can’t happen. I came around to your way of looking at her, I hope she returns, hopefully, that last game leaves a bad taste in her mouth. If she returns her/Ellis/Harper/Jayla probably occupy 4 of the starting spots, that leaves 1 spot open, Layden is a 7th/8th man spot in my rotation, useful player but at 15-18 minutes a night max. Hope they land a solid grad transfer, the Minny or ASU girl should bring interest. No it tells you something about the ability and athleticism of both teams to play good post AND perimeter defense. Layden has one of three problems imo, being played out of position to accommodate Petree playing the sf role and it threw off her game, being allowed/ forced to play hurt last year for several weeks doing permanent damage to her leg, or some personal issue from off court messing with her. Two of the three are coaching issues IMO.Terry had a poor game, not sure what was up with her, zero point’s can’t happen. The ASU girl sounds like a shorter version of Woltman with a poorer scoring ability. Not sure she did CKGs style. Id love the UMinn girl. We will see, at some point CKG has to put down the transfer hash pipe and start developing the talent on her team, and yes that will likely mean a rough year or two in wins and losses. The quick fix approach very rarely yields good long term results. There are very few shortcuts on the path to long term success, in coaching as in life.
Congratulations, you just posted the dumbest comment on a Rivals board so far this year. Several people on here can tell you how hard I railed against SV as a coach for at least a decade before she was finally fired. Wow, I wasn't sure this level of stupid still existed in the wild..... To be honest, I haven't liked any of our coaches since Fortner.
See that's the biggest difference between us, I can respect a differing opinion than mine, as long as you have some reason to believe as you do. You on the other hand are so insecure and petty that you demean and berate anyone who disagrees with you because it challenges your so very frail self image. Never fear, DocRon won't ever try and tone police you because you are nasty to people he disagrees with, and he will protect you no matter how much of an abusive turd you are on here to others... He has no integrity like that. I've said before I think UWisc made the better hire, but we won't know until after the fifth season. Meanwhile you lionize KG for every good thing and blame the players for every failure. You aren't a Purdue fan, you are a KG fanboy. You do have some basketball knowledge, but you lack any sort of objectivity in how you apply it.Well to you all of SV’s recruits were great and it was up to Gearlds to have a couple sub-.500 seasons in order to “develop” the likes of Learn, Stoddard, Potts Holzer and Smith into all Americans. I suggest you go follow meddling Wisconsin and your crush Moseley as she’s apparently building the program the only “right way”
You’re a joke.
Where can I pick up my award?Congratulations, you just posted the dumbest comment on a Rivals board so far this year. I do agree with your second to last paragraph, it's not an unusual effect from a coaching change. It's being able to sustain that intensity and build on it that's rare.Michael you definitely have something against CKG and the fact that you can't find joy or appreciate any of the coaches since Fortner cements you as the get off my lawn guy of this message board.
When you look at this roster who CKG was able to bring in from the portal - no topline player was coming to a team with 7 wins or played in the nit - and who CSV gave her - potts is 100% CSV from the couple of people I talked to on and around staff - CKG got more than anyone else possibly could out of this group.
You complain about a lack of development but Woltman has actually looked like a basketball player under CKG compared to CSV. Smith's 2 pt jump shot and fewer defensive erors this year were noticible. Hardin being a serviceable and reliable player despite not being a scorer Just three examples on this roster of development but they don't meet your everchanging criteria because you can't recognize success however incremental that this program makes.
What's stood out to me the most this year is more tenacity and desire to win rather than just play basketball, which was still lacking during parts of the season. This year was about creating a culture that you have to have to attract top talent and set the environment to win.
But what do I know im proudly the dumbest poster in the history of this group. You should read what the real experts - not me and definitely not you - in articles from Mike Carmen Sam King and Greg Doyle from last night.

It was him calling me a Versyp burner account that earned the stupidity award, but my original post was deleted but lives in his reply..... I have been on these boards since Versyp was still coahing in High School, and disliked her as coach since about her 4th or 5th year.I thought BoilerRingside's post was fine with a genuine sober and calm demeanor. There have been, by far, worse posts. I complain just like others, but I am so happy CSV is gone. That said, time will tell how CKG works out, but I am happier than before even with the baby steps I see.
Hmm. I've been around since before the N. Championship days. How do you have so many posts deleted? I've never had a post deleted. You come across as so angry and attacking. Debates are great, but not being over the top with rage and fury . It's not reasonable fan comfortable. That said, we agree about Versyp and the future of Boiler W. Basketball. We want the old, better days. Let's please reboot as you definitely are knowledgeable with worthy content. Destewart and I used to cross swords and he would protest everytime I responded to one of his attacks with a counter attack.... that is a lot of them. I also struggle not to respond in kind to demi-trolls like BoilerPride that cannot post a disagreement without a snide personal insult. I am getting better at that, but still struggle to not respond to insults or outright idiocy like the post calling me a Versyp burner account. I am passionate about Purdue women's basketball PERIOD. The men's results from Friday did not surprise me except it came a round or two earlier than I expected..... the men's game has denegrated so far from the rules that a team of less athletic but well coached players playing good team ball have little to no hope in the NCAA's where it is all about athleticism and what I call "Punking and Dunking" and the refs call it to favor the high flying athletes against those playing good team ball. I would rather watch the old 1970s test pattern for 3 hours then any form of men's basketball at this point. The test pattern would be more entertaining.Hmm. I've been around since before the N. Fair response and I get your passion. Thanks for listening. I also long for our team to make that comeback to being relevant again. I really think administration killed this team by waiting many years too long to cut the agonizing CSV ties. We are deep in the labyrinth because of it, but maybe not as deep as a year ago. We can only pray for those better days.Destewart and I used to cross swords and he would protest everytime I responded to one of his attacks with a counter attack.... that is a lot of them. You lose me on this, I’m sorry, the men’s game is 100x better than the women. Coaches have evolved, if you don’t make 3’s or aren’t athletic you’re probably not going far as a team, also, team ball still wins, not sure what games you’re watching when you talk about the men’s game like that?Destewart and I used to cross swords and he would protest everytime I responded to one of his attacks with a counter attack.... that is a lot of them.
