I read that Malik Williams' team is supposed to play at about 9 PM tonight. I'm thinking about going to check it out. I know there are quite a few other fellow Fort Wayne area posters on here (BoilerBulldog, Schnelk, PU pit bull, etc.). Is anyone here planning on going?

Well I didn't realize it was happening this weekend. Might be able to check it out. I've never attended one. What's it cost?

From my experience, it's usually no more than $10 but it depends on how many sessions you want to pay to watch.

I actually live in New England now. Did you make it?

No, I didn't end up going. Most of the people I'm friends with (in person) nowadays aren't even sports fans (kind of odd, haha) or busy. I didn't feel like driving out there just to watch it on my own. Sorry, no report from me but it looks like there's plenty of stuff posted on the site already.

I was there all 3 days--I hope you guys get Williams,or Iowa , or Michigan State---anybody but IU . I received many inputs on him and saw the "eye test " myself. I will say every player on Spiece Indy heat was really good. They won the 17U division handily even though Jackson had back spasms and did not play the last 2 games on Sunday. They whipped Williams team Friday night. Williams had two 29 point games against weak competition---he was mediocre at best in the three other games. He stays out of the weight room and it shows and wants to be a 6'11" shooting guard. Good luck.

These statements may come back to haunt you if you are a "real iu fan".

so was he playing like Walter McCarty in high school? Ted Kitchel was good at IU somewhat due to Junior Mannies...who was fired for allowing Ted to play way out on the perimeter. Roger Schnepp moved Ted closer to the basket his senior year. Purdue would love to have him even if he didn't pass your eye test just because he is 6'11" agile and is skillful. His ceiling is about as high as he makes it

Go to Michigan State rivals site for a decent article on Williams. My concerns are more from inputs than eyesight. Difficult to teach work ethic ,passion , and toughness.

yes, those are somewhat true. You can demand work ethic and work ethic beings success and success brings passion...toughness somewhat a by product of passion...but how long does this take to get to that point? Interesting in that Purdue and MSU demand toughness and work ethic and both are interested and so it must be on potential. Thanks for the heads up on MSU rivals Guess not...just on the premo board

If your basing your opinion on AAU games, then 99% of the bigs would not be worthy of recruiting. AAU ball is a game for guards. All these kids know they are being showcased & passing the ball to the post is not on display very often. Williams has alot of skill & will be a good get for whoever he plays for. His game is not perfect, but by the time he's a Jr & Sr, much like JJ, he's going to be a force that you want on your team.
