What are the odds we see more of the Jared Sparks QB package on Saturday?

So far he has only played garbage time in the Ohio and Mizzou games. And all running plays IIRC. You have to think the coaching staff has some pass plays up their sleeve out of this package. I thought we might see it last week with the offense bogged down, but I think in a tight game Brohm was probably concerned with turnovers against that Michigan defense. But Minnesota with a young secondary.. and Purdue with 2 weeks to prepare.. I wouldn't be surprised to see it, but it may depend on game flow and if the "regular offense" is clicking from the start.

I think it has depended on a need basis and I don't think using him in that capacity would have mattered much in the Michigan game...so no reason to tip your hand. I think if and when a time calls for it, you could easily see Sparks in the game and running/throwing to gash a defense and believe that may come out this weekend. My guess would be if Purdue gets the ball after halftime and has a chance to put the game away (going up 17 or 21 points with a TD), Sparks may be implemented to try everything to get in the endzone. Minny might be a solid team but they aren't built to score a bunch of points to come from behind.

Copy and paste for Purdue's success this season: If they can get the ball and score, get a stop on defense, and go down and get another score to make it 10-0 or 14-0, it forces the other team to play from behind and allows Holt to turn the heat up on defense. You saw this against UM until Speicht was injured and you definitely saw this against Ohio and Missouri.

I think it has more to do with how comfortable we are with protection. This is an o-line that is solid but just got demolished by Michigan's pass rush so we don't know how good they actually are. Adding the wrinkle of Jared Spark's QB package just adds more for them to have to worry about. I think Sparks utilization will be greater as the the line gains more depth and has more experience playing together.

Sparks will toss a long TD pass this season. Mark it!
