Southport

Brunk had 22 and 20 and didn't play anywhere close to his potential. Hit clutch free throws and had an And 1 that ultimately won the game. I would have loved to have him, and I'm not alone. Painter, Izzo, and half the Big Ten wanted him also.
As far as Scruggs, he and Wilkes are going to have every offer they want except for maybe Duke. Would take a heck of an effort to land him. NBA level athleticism and talent. Curious how you think CMP would have responded after taking a contested, running jumper with a 5 point lead and less than 30 seconds left in the game?

In your opinion, how should Scruggs' coach respond?

The same way his coach responded. If Paul comes out of the game they lose. He was coached/corrected in the moment, and I'd bet he will be coached in the film room and in practice. Same as any quality coach with little ball handling depth and the best ball handler in Marion County would do in the closing seconds of a game.
The question was about college basketball, however. Really I was just showing the immaturity of a guy who took a shot at a high school kid because he chose to go to Butler. Weak. It'd be different if it was legit criticism. We don't always get every player the staff pursues, but let's be principled and not suggest that a kid that put his team on his back and dropped 22/20 is "no loss." Anybody with any knowledge of basketball in Marion County would want Brunk coming to the college team they root for-

Yeah was hoping Purdue would get him but I don't think he was interested. Talking to someone close to him he must be a pretty good kid. Woks have loved having him for 4 years!

Ah, I didn't make the connection.

Any Boiler fan would be thrilled if Brunk had committed to Purdue.

We don't have to worry about Scruggs. He already stated that he is going to Kentucky if offered.

Brunk is solid for sure. Going against 6-5 guys. Just don't see him ever being a Hammons or Haas. Scruggs is the real deal.

Scruggs is a great player, not a great student and not real coachable. Brunk is a good kid and a good student, would have been nice to have him but he would have been a So or Jr before he could contribute much. Good skill set but doesn't have a college body yet. Know a guy close to the Southport program....Scruggs may not be a Purdue fit.
