Sorta OT: Bobinski & Brohm

I read the Doyle article before it showed up here. I was infuriated as you, BBulldog. If that is all Doyle could get out of the visit from our AD and new football coach, I don't think he is much of a writer. And I am also a little disappointed in our marketing department to let our AD and new football coach in on the situation regarding recognition of Purdue in Indianapolis. I don't believe the message delivered will hit the home run we need in Indy and I sure as anything would not have taken the approach they did by informing the Indy press that Purdue has been ignoring Indy.

If I was the AD and our sports marketing told me we have been ignoring Indy from a sports marketing point of view, I would have fired them all. And I feel that is what happened. Our sports marketing needs to be turned up side down and refocused on the closer large markets. To become relentless with the message that Purdue sports are for real and need to get attention. Maybe more later on this. My temples are bulging.

That Purdue football has fallen behind with instate relations is a surprise to no one. The first necessary step is acknowledging the mistakes of the past and putting everyone on notice that there is a new sheriff in town and things are going to be different. This is called restoration and it's a good thing.

When you refer to "instate relations", does that mean the press or the high school coaching fraternity in Indiana? Also, I am onboard with identifying and solving the mistakes made in the past. But I am not so wild on the ultimate bad ass presentation we have just seen until we earn it. So what if there is a sheriff in town? You have to win the gun fight before the community will stand behind you and provide support.

Athlon quoted an unnamed B1G coach stating that Purdue made a fantastic hire of Brohm -- the best hire possible -- but the program is in such bad shape (no talent) that it won't show. Grrrrr!

Assuming it was a head coach, I bet the "unnamed B1G coach" is either: A. Harbaugh B. Meyer C. whoever is IU's HC now.

It's an article detailing their trip to various media outlets in Indy last week. I thought it was entertaining:

He isn't a very good writer ... I couldn't even finish this article without skipping through it and being very bored. Sounds like the new regime is making some necessary changes though. I had no idea such basic things were so bad but I think that's well established now. Time to move forward.
