Yeah but Jimmy came back and played! It somewhat comes back to the, "I would hope you would support us because of who we are, not who we are not". (Apologies if I butchered the quote.)
Coach stays, I play. He goes, I go.Yeah but Jimmy came back and played!
Agree, some of this is a statement on “college” football with bowl sit-outs, NIL, etc.I understand your question. However, I don't think that's something "they" control.
Not sure what is your motivation in going to the bowl game, but I've always thought it was a good thing to go to games, contribute to JPC, and support the program in general because of ... Purdue.

Whether we like it or not, it's clear, CFB has changed.Agree, some of this is a statement on “college” football with bowl sit-outs, NIL, etc.
I love these two players, but in short time they have become soft.
could never imagine Brees sitting out the Outback or Rose Bowl. Roosevelt Colvin would never sit out a bowl…and the Bowl sponsors can’t be liking this, and will punish certain schools in future.
It sure seems most changes these days are not for the better.Whether we like it or not, it's clear, CFB has changed.
It's interesting(?) that people b*tch about, and bemoan, the amount of MONEY in college athletics, then lobby and advocate for increasing the amount of money in college athletics. It sure seems most changes these days are not for the better.
To me I don’t care about any of the money stuff or NIL or anything. Just want an entertaining product and a Boiler win. I did have a problem with people bitching about how players were being used to make money for the university. They may have been but those kids got a full ride free education, food, room and board, clothing and so on. Plus the exposure they got from playing for that school and national games on TV and talk shows dedicated to talking about it. They wouldn’t have got the exposure otherwise. If they didn’t think it was fair then they could choose not to play for the NCAA and take a chanceIt's interesting(?) that people b*tch about, and bemoan, the amount of MONEY in college athletics, then lobby and advocate for increasing the amount of money in college athletics.
🤡
And not at all for the better unfortunately...Whether we like it or not, it's clear, CFB has changed.
Drew and Rosie weren't looking at today's kind of money. I think it's a slap at their team mates, but an injury would cost both a ton of money. Were I AOC, I'd test the waters.Agree, some of this is a statement on “college” football with bowl sit-outs, NIL, etc.

nobody has ever seen "today's kind of money". Same was said when Brees came out of college. And Rod Woodson.Drew and Rosie weren't looking at today's kind of money. I think it's a slap at their team mates, but an injury would cost both a ton of money. Were I AOC, I'd test the waters.
It’s worth it for them to cry if you lambast themWhaaaaaaaaaa! Whaaaaaaaa! Buncha selfish crybabies on this board.
Damn, you are taking this personal aren’t you?Why do people go to college? Simple. It gives them the best chance to make a great life for them and their family. People pounding on their electronic device, whining about player’s opting out of a bowl games have probably never had the opportunity for first round $. You make yourself look very foolish. Both players have worked their asses off to get to this point in their life. They have earned the opportunity of a lifetime with more blood, sweat, and tears than you will ever know. So please go sell stupid somewhere else. Good luck to David and George at the next level. You’ve earned it.

He's just jealous because he will never sniff that kind of money.D

BINGO! Maybe this will help accelerate the demise of the silly bowl season and replace it with an expanded college football playoff system
No they didn't and that is a stupid thing to say. They would be risking millions to play in a meaningless game. Imagine if they got a career ending injury or even one that puts them out of the combine, that would literally cost them a lot of money. And you are calling them soft?I love these two players, but in short time they have become soft.
Spot on. The cop out by some 'fans' slaps the rest of the team in the face. So the ones that will be playing are just after thoughts because two players worth millions chose not to play? Talk about being 'soft'.Why do people go to college? Simple. It gives them the best chance to make a great life for them and their family. I don’t think it makes them soft but what I was saying last week in this thread is that if the game is so meaningless and they are worried about getting hurt and risking millions then they should just sit out once it’s determined they aren’t going to be playing for the Big Ten championship. Those games after that determination of no championship are “meaningless” too. I mean is it worth it to risk millions to beat a crap ass IU team on 4th string QB? We could have won Bucket without them. We were already bowl eligibleNo they didn't and that is a stupid thing to say. They would be risking millions to play in a meaningless game. Get bent.

Considering it was just iu and the last time in front of a home crowd, your comparison is weak. They made it through injury free which isn't always he case so they are choosing not to risk it. Whining about it like you're entitled to them playing is just ridiculous.I mean is it worth it to risk millions to beat a crap ass IU team on 4th string QB? We could have won Bucket without them. Who the hell is whining? I’m not entitled to shit. If you seen what I said earlier in thread I said I understood why they opted out. Just asking what the difference is in what is considered meaningless games. Sounds like you’re the one taking it personal.Considering it was just iu and the last time in front of a home crowd, your comparison is weak. I was referencing this thread in general. @Indy_Rider answered the rest of your question. And taking this personal? Na, no one on here matters that much to me to take anything posted personally.Who the hell is whining? I’m not entitled to shit. Copy. I was going to say, if anyone is taking any of this personal then they need some helpI was referencing this thread in general. @Indy_Rider answered the rest of your question. And taking this personal? Na, no one on here matters that much to me to take anything posted personally.
Not personal. Just someone that has coached multiple D1 players. Some that have had to make this same decision. Seems like you were the one talking it person.D
Damn, you are taking this personal aren’t you?
Yep. Everybody talks about the Jaylon Smith type injury examples. But for every one of those there are probably a dozen guys who dropped in the draft because of a bad 40 time or low bench reps at the combine. These guys are competing with other elite athletes just like them and preparing their bodies for the most important day of their young careers, maybe the most important day of their lives.I think it has to do with timing. After the last game, you still have plenty of time to get over a lot injuries and then prep for the draft. By the time you play in a bowl game, even a sprain at that point delays your draft prep and can effect your position. I've heard several say, the combine is probably when they are in the best shape of their lives.
Nah. Look at my last post. I was just asking the difference in the meaningless games. I definitely understand why they’re opting out.Not personal. Just someone that has coached multiple D1 players. Some that have had to make this same decision. Seems like you were the one talking it person.
Wow. You’re the giant ass hat. You fit right in to today’s hypocritical society. If you would've stopped there, you would've been good. Instead you come across as really a giant ass hat with the rest of it because I don't think it's a jealous issue, probably more of they just want one last chance to enjoy it and have the team have a good showing in the bowl game. I don't like the players sitting, but I get it. I also don't watch hardly any bowl games anymore because a lot of them just end up being bad games because of the top players sitting out. So the teams you are watching are not as good as the teams during the season. It can make for kind of a crappy product to watch.
Still being a giant ass hat I see. You know nothing about my finances. If you read my post and that was your takeaway it says a lot more about you than me.He's just jealous because he will never sniff that kind of money.
There is nothing hypocritical about me. I live by what I say and not try to deflect. Not my fault what you wrote was first rate ass hat and instead of trying to clarify, you double down on the ass hattery. Nice job.Wow. You’re the giant ass hat. You fit right in to today’s hypocritical society.

It's an indictment on what's to come in new NCAA Football model. Some of us still care about the education part; I don't donate to JPC for just football, but to give student athletes the reward a 40 year decision that makes their opportunity in life better.Folks, this is not worth the energy.
There are very few fans negatively reacting to players opting out. Yet, we have this forum and social media, ablaze with people defending the decision, like they're protecting someone's honor.
Very few people have given it a second's thought.
Let it go.
Drew and Rosie knew about the long play -Drew and Rosie weren't looking at today's kind of money. I think it's a slap at their team mates, but an injury would cost both a ton of money. Were I AOC, I'd test the waters.
