a coach has separated themselves from the others. I am guessing they will likely spend Sunday hashing out contract details either on campus or at a remote location and will be announced on Monday.

Would really prefer it be announce just before the announcing of the CFP on Sunday as that would get play on the stations and ESPN as an update during all their talking head shows.

The next Purdue coach according to those sources say Brohm from WKU.

Hopefully it will be Brohm , don't mind what day. I already know what they'll be talking about @7 on saturday. They'll have a big production on psu and how they are the Phoenix rising up out of the ashes in regards to their recent sanctions etc even though it didn't kill them football wise, just a couple down years.

Purdue's job search has one that has apparently been one that is very fluid and has involved a fair amount of interested parties due to the some what recent success that was had by Joe Tiller and the attractiveness of the new facilities and verbal support of the football program by a new AD, BOT, and Mitch Daniels. I think that bodes well that there appears to be a wide range of interested candidates because it allows MBob to make a very well thought out decision with a number of different possibilities and isn't held to just one or two candidates that may be qualified. As we have mentioned, most of the names floated out would do a good job in our minds.

:cool:It is fun to read all the conjecture. My sources who is an uncle of one of the janitors who is related to someone tells me Nick Saban wants back into the midwest and will be announced by Sunday at a $12,000,000 a year 10 year deal.

You know at one point someone may be right. Just now it will be flooded by cry wolf. As someone said rumors can be smoke screens. Fleck being the most smoke, maybe bargaining with Brohm.

talk about fluid, at the start I was all in for Fleck and watched some of their games, and while being well coached it's predominately a run oriented offense. Alot of people call Fleck "Harbaugh Lite" but I see him having Fitzgerald like team which isn't all that bad. But w/ the Brohm's , I see a "Stoops Lite " team with a passing philosophy that can turn our program around quicker. Between the osu's, mich, msu's, Iowa, wisc. and nd grabbing all the highly OL's we can take advantage of the QB's we seem to get and recruit speed and have a wide open O that at the very least will put some people in the seats.

Looks like we'll be worse than the Hazell era than. That bum, Saban, can't even win in Ross Ade, 0-2-1 at Ross Ade. :)

Brohm = solid. I'd be good with a Jeff Brohm hire.

Think he'd be one to stick around for a longer haul, not just looking to use us as a stepping stone to something else (Fleck).

I honestly think we'll be good with any of these guys; Brohm, Montgomery, Calhoun. They just won't have the initial "sizzle" of a Fleck, Miles, Schiano, but I feel they are all SOLID.

He moved into first when I finally realized Fleck may just be riding a QB that he inherited and it finally clicked for him as a sophomore, where as Brohm, I'm more sure it is the system he runs.

I'm just sitting here wondering how much the board will melt down if we're sitting here next week at this time with all the seasons over and no announcement yet.

I will be shocked and obviously the search firm wasn't worth the money they cost us. I think who ever it is, the deal is basically done as that was the search firms job.

I think it's absolutely the system with Brohm. Mike White was terrible at USF. In 2 years there, his 2 year totals were:
  • 417 attempts
  • 2722 yards
  • 51.6 completion percentage
  • 11 TDs
  • 16 INTs.
In just 1 year at WKU, under Brohm, he had:
  • 356 attempts
  • 3606 yards
  • 67.1 completion percentage
  • 31 TDs
  • 5 INTs
USF plays in the American Conference, WKU plays in Conference USA so there's not much difference in competition, and he excelled in Brohm's system.

I remember a Purdue coach that was at WKU for a few years that was VERY successful, was that in basketballa!

The thing about this search firm, a candidate coach (like Fleck) says "I haven't spoken to any other colleges." And he hasn't. His agent spoke with the search firm dude.

I think it's pretty obvious we are hiring somebody with a game left, so it's Fleck or Brohm.

Have you looked at who in each conference? BIG difference! American is way tougher than CUSA.

And Marshall (CUSA) beat UConn (AAC) in a bowl last year too. And UConn was the only team to beat Houston last year.

And WKU obliterated Marshall this year. Oh well, I didn't really contribute anything. Point has been made that it is difficult to compare records across conferences.
