A couple of years ago, this board had several asking why we were picking up so many receivers. We only have 1 football, so how are we going to be able to get everyone enough touches?

Well, I guess we see now why we are doing that and maybe we should have taken more, because we have a lot of uncertainty at this position now. We have had transfers. Moore has left for the NFL. Bell is in concussion protocol. Wright might make a one handed catch or drop several in the numbers. Rice has been hurt consistently since he has been on campus, and he is now out for "considerable time" per Brohm speak, which could be next week or done for the season. Sheffield has not lived up to his 4 star rating yet. Anthrop has been consistent. Thompson has shown some good things when he has gotten the ball. So far, we have not really seen Moore, Burks, Sullivan, or Terrell.

After Bell and Anthrop leave after this year, are we going to have any receivers next year? There won't be much experience at WR. I really hoped that we could have gotten Omar Cooper, but he verballed to IU. Any chance we can switch him?

None of the transfers have exactly went out and lit it up at their new schools.

Carr, who when recruited wanted to be a WR and not a TE is now a TE and with one catch. He's probably the most high profile I can think of. He still might do something, but he obviously wasn't an answer at WR since MSU moved him to TE.

Nobody was *complaining* that we had too many 4* receivers...the comments were why do we keep attracting/accepting so many quality receivers and completely whiff on impact H.S. recruits for other positions.

Nobody ever said," I wish we'd stop getting good receiver commitments," it was "I wish we could get some top LB/OL/DL/QB/RB... recruits, instead of yet another WR."

The only guy saying it was Wolegib. And we all know he's kind of an off the wall commenter...

I don’t think yaseen, Thompson or Sullivan will necessarily look bad if bell can’t go Saturday.. just bad relative to bell.

I think that.. when David bell is gone next year and even if mershawn rice is being a good 2021 era receiver, people will begin to realize that you could have put David bell in an era where it’s I formation, one tight end two receivers, an era where you could take a receivers head off over the middle.. you could have Deion sanders on him, and he would have done just fine. He’s just good period…

try to understand as you watch this weekend that most guys who play nowadays are good IF:

you can’t touch them
You can’t hit them over the middle
They benefit from 3, 4 and 5 receiver sets
They benefit from picks etc.

That’s probably what we will usually get at wide receiver, even if we consider them 4 stars who pan out

Zero! He and McCulley were as close to a package deal you could get. When we bowed out on McCulley we also said goodbye to Cooper.
