I haven't heard/read one way or the other and was wondering if it's been mentioned anywhere yet. Defense I think got gassed against Nevada but I think his best value is being on the side where he can chew someone out as needed.

But, I'm not coach B so this is my opinion only.

He will be up in the pavilion.

I do wonder how much friction there might be between Brohm and Holt. It’s pretty obvious that Holt would rather be on the sideline and this is Jeff’s edict to him. The defense was plain awful last year, and I’ve gotten the feeling from various interviews that Brohm doesn’t always agree with Holt’s in game decisions either, such as only rushing 3 in the fourth quarter on Friday. That DC seat might get warm if another lead is squandered.

Holt is the same guy that put a defense on the field that was pretty good in 2017. Friction, maybe. I doubt his seat is warm yet.

Thanks all for the info. I'm not sure how I feel about it, which is irrelevant, or what else is going on.

It's a tad concerning though or at least raises some red flags.

I agree with this other than if the D continue to have issues through the season, there might be a conversation after it is over.

Brohm just got a big payday so now is going to be expected to produce. Which means so will the rest of the staff and if they aren't seeing eye-to-eye, then I can see a change happening.

And don't get me wrong, just because they may not agree on some things, it doesn't mean they don't like or respect one another, it's just a difference of opinion and is as simple as that.

It's certainly more entertaining to see him on the sideline with his restrainer. From those kinds of actions, it's obvious that he'd rather be down on the field more directly involved and interacting with the players.

I've always felt holt was overrated by our fans. As you said last year our defense was terrible and im not even going to get into the auburn game.

I do like him and 2017 will get him a long leash. Just think there might be some philosophical differences and egos involved. I expect a turnaround with more of what we saw in the first half Friday and less of what we saw in the 4th quarter. That, and the young talent, should smooth over a lot of things.

Getting Neal back (at some point) will make things a lot better.

According to the guys over at Boiled Sports, Brohm and Holt had gotten into a verbal disagreement during a practice. Lends at least some credence to the possibility of friction. Hopefully they get it worked out and put it behind them. Hell, co-workers of all types of professions sometimes have disagreements.

This should be a surprise? Two alpha males having friction?
I'd be shocked as H*LL (and more than a bit disappointed) if there WASN'T friction.
Maybe I've shared this before: I had an old mentor who said, "if both of us agree all the time, one of us is unnecessary"....

Defense is all about fire and intensity. To me, Holt should be on the sideline.

Yes

If the defense continues to apply zero pressure and prove unable to make big stops, I think Holt is gone.Virtually impossible to win close games. The secondary is getting shredded with that 3 man rush. Damn near scored at the end of the half on a hail mary.

We are playing with a depleted secondary thanks to injuries and for the most part the D has done rather well. Holt isn't going anywhere........ come on man.

By the time we get some O-linemen to develop into solid run blockers we should be pretty strong in all Units. This time 2 years from now we could be an all-big-ten QB away from seriously challenging for the Big Ten title... and for all we now Alaimo might be that QB
