So if MN was the true measuring stick...

For those die hards that still have faith in this staff.

Suck it!

This program blows.

I can't believe I wasted another Saturday on this abomination of a program.

I was one of the few holdouts. Still had a slim hope that we could turn the season around...

Can't anymore. I just can't. We just gave up 31 points to Minnesota in less than 3 quarters. We scored only 6 and had an unbelievable number of 3-and-outs.

I'm sorry but Hazell needs to go. The whole staff needs to go tomorrow. This is not getting better any time soon or ever with them at the helm.

And please Mr. Hazell, take Morgan Burke with you...share a moving van!

Coach and AD need to go. No pride in Purdue athletics in past 5 yrs.
Purdue is the program of slackers.

its comical that some people were predicting possibly 8 wins at the beginning of the season. I mean I could've misread that and they meant "8 wins before Hazell's contract is up". looks like another 2-10 record at best probably. Think about that, giving another win, which is debatable, thats 2 BIG10 wins in 3 years and 3 wins vs FBS teams, 2 vs Power 5.

I saw the players totally overmatched in speed and strength. Difficult to read the coaching staff in that situation. Recruiting needs to improve.

I think that is the key area. We have to get someone who can recruit and recruit players to fit philosophies. There are no philosophies on O or D and there is no recruiting. Players got their faces beat in b/c A) they didn't try B) they aren't that talented C) the coaches had they incredibly ill prepared.
I was certainly a hold out supporter of the staff but I am done. They got completely wrecked in all areas today against a team that they should have been competitive with. Nothing left to say but to move on.

How do you think we measure up?

Bullcrap! The Boilers were OUTCOACHED!

Your right, it's bullcrap. The players need to be stronger and faster. Not to defend this coach and his staff, but they can not pull it off if the talent (strength and speed) aren't there.

Who recruited the not big enough, not strong enough, not fast enough, not skilled enough players?

WRONG!! This is the great con. If you wanted to be a contrarian you took this view with trestman on the Bears. And then you see with Ryan pace all but tanking the roster, the team still looks 100% more like a functional football team with fox...

Why do people insist that there's only one problem?

The coaching AND talent level are poor. To argue otherwise is flat out ignorance.

Recruiting could definitely improve... That said, Danny hope got Danny hopes players into a bowl game. Do you think wax museum Barry bonds could get hopes players into a bowl game? Coach Ohio Stazell probably couldn't go 6-6 with the 03 roster

That's half the point though. Purdue beat up on cupcakes to go 6-6, hence why Hope was fired.

Arguing between bad and worse doesn't mean much.

On paper, Hope recruited better than Hazell (although many people will argue differently). But let's be very clear, NEITHER were/are good.

Minnesota is a cupcake!!!!!!!!!!! You're not getting it. Yes... I agree on hope. I simply want them to beat a lowly cupcake like DANNY FREAKING HOPE could instead on being down 41-6 at one point!

And that is the point of the Hope/Hazzell argument. Hope wasn't great but he would beat the teams he was "supposed" to for the most part. I'm not saying he shouldn't of been fired or that I want him back, but to be realistic Hazell has turned out to be one giant step backwards from Hope and that is saying something.

Three main issues as I see it:

1) DH and staff cannot recruit talent. We get a few gems, but the vast majority of our recruiting classes are MAC fodder. (see: recruiting rankings the past 3 years) This falls squarely on the shoulders of DH.

2) DH and staff are not developing players. If you are starting with sub-par talent, then you better be able to develop them and coach them up. This falls squarely on the shoulders of DH.

3) Purdue gets what they pay for. DH is 10th in the B1G for annual pay, his staff rank about 12th in the B1G. There is no commitment to making Purdue competitive unless we can grab lightning in a jar. This falls squarely on the shoulders of MB and the AD.

Ideal scenario would be to lose both MB and DH in a hurry, but knowing how our AD works, we would never pay for a coach NOT to be coaching, so DH will probably stay until his contract runs out. MB would never retire early or step down to allow for someone else to come in and right the ship. So, we get to watch this dumpster fire burn for the next few years while we slip into the familiar comfort of the Colletto years.

But, hey, we've got basketball to look forward to!

The pay rankings are obviously ever-fluctuating. It doesn't help their own staff that none of them have earned a raise or contract extension in 3 years. The problem isn't so much their entry pay, it's maintaining successful candidates once a coach is established. Purdue's going to be a major pay raise for assistants from where we'd be getting them (and I understand that means we aren't snagging TCU's offensive coordinator - and that's ok, we don't need to). There is enough talented coaching out there.

Half of Hazell's problem is that he's married himself to 2 coordinators that shouldn't have a job today. It's not as if he couldn't get anyone else - he just seemed to be happy with the jobs they were doing. That's the problem.
