in terms of football recruiting. The prior two classes, Purdue was bringing in a number of zero and two star prospects, many of them without other Power 5 school offers. So far this year, Purdue has landed two 3-star players, one which has two other Power 5 offers and I suspect the other will have at least one by the end of recruiting seeing as he's ranked in the Top 50 nationally at his position.

Recruiting, at least for Purdue, is a process. The players that are in this year's class were Sophomores when Hazell came to Purdue so he and his staff have had time to create a relationship with these players and form a bond of trust. Let's hope this is just the tip of the iceberg to come (and Purdue's not the Titanic)

With two spots filled, Purdue has filled no less than 1/6 of it's 2016 class with at least 10 and perhaps 12 spots to go.

Where I see Purdue's recruiting needs for 2016:
OG/C - 2 slots - none committed
OT - 2 slots - none committed
TE - 0 slots
WR - 2 slots - none committed
QB - 0 slots
RB - 1 slot

DT - 1 slot - none committed (Neal would be a good fit)
DE - 1 slot - none committed
LB - 1 slot - none committed
CB - 1 slot - Hayes committed
S - 2 slots - Long committed, one spot left

K/P/ST - 1 slot - none committed

All the above is subject to change should a player unexpectedly fall in Purdue's lap and be too good not to take. Purdue may also alter their recruiting based on how players have (and haven't) developed once they get on campus in August.
