Doesn't look like it, just maybe not a good matchup tonight for him. Who knowsDid I miss something on him? Is he hurt?
My guess is doghouse. He was suspended to start the season, maybe he has done something else to break team rules or displease the staff??
Oh don't start that crap. There is no indication that Basil is going anywhere. He isn't brooding like the other two were and spreading that transfer crap is just ridiculous.maybe he's already told Painter that he plans to transfer at the end of the season.
Basil is still one of our most athletic players (if not THE most athletic), is well liked by the team, and has a very likable personality. There always seems to be a potential for an exciting play when he is on the floor. I think most folks in general are pulling for Basil to improve his game and get more minutes. I've always been a Basil fan.Has anyone ever had the thought that maybe...JUST MAYBE...Basil isn't good enough overall to be playing major minutes on this years team? Maybe CMP has limited his bench to 8 guys because he saw what playing 10 guys did last season at times? Some times that leaves some talented players on the bench and that appears to be Basil at this point in time.

I think your assessment is spot on but there is a difference between athletic ability and overall basketball talent. Look at Jacob Lawson, who may have actually been the most 'athletic' player CMP has ever brought in. I am in no way saying Basil is Lawson...Basil is a legit B1G talent, but happens to be 9th on the bench at this point in time.
Going OT, Lawson appeared to have a blasé work ethic (not sure how serious he was about being the best he could be), which is why he really wasn't much better (if at all) at Appalachian State. I'd like to think that Smotherman's work ethic is, at the least, slighty better than Lawson's.
The indicator is his playing time. Trying to think of the last player (non walk-on) to make it to his senior year in the program after not playing more than 15 mpg as a sophomore or junior... Travis Carroll in 2010-11 maybe??Oh don't start that crap. There is no indication that Basil is going anywhere. If it is, why did he spend his redshirt year at the Golden Corral?Going OT, Lawson appeared to have a blasé work ethic (not sure how serious he was about being the best he could be), which is why he really wasn't much better (if at all) at Appalachian State. Also, he loafed on an offside rebound opportunity late in the game last night. Replay of that kind of play will get him more bench time in the MP scheme.this is the biggest fallacy on this board... he is no where near the most athletic player on this team.. the kid added about 25 pounds in his waist and butt region and is incredibly slow footed
You guys missed a really neat "sportsmanship" moment involving Smotherman with about 30 seconds left. He had the ball and he could have done anything with it but, motioned to Luce to get in the front court and wanted him to have a shot at scoring. He made us all proud with that selfless act!Did I miss something on him? Is he hurt?
