Slime doesn't fall far from the tree....

Yep, with that, the player arrests, suspensions, dismissals, and overall losing these past two seasons (plus they have a new AD now), I think his seat is officially hot. They better make the NCAA Tournament next season or he might have to go re-join his dad, either on the sidelines or in early, forced retirement.
If his last name were not Pitino, he never would have had the job to begin with...and not as though he had any established credentials of his own in the industry either.

He has not done a good job thus far, and as you alluded to, with a new AD on board, not hard to see them wanting to make a change after next year barring some miracle performance.

On a related note...worth pointing out I think that Minnesota announced that a search committee would be formed in February to identify the new AD, said committee was formed in March, and they have a new AD already...opposed to the ridiculously drawn out process at Purdue that defies any and all logic (although given the general ineptitude of the BoT with regard to the matter, and the specific ineptitude within the department itself, it does not come as any sort of surprise).

Purdue held their first meeting in April. If they have a hire in place next month, the timing will be similar.

Exceeding an overall budget is one thing, and a no-no.

But..."Bruh"...dinging him for not filling up the rental car? I don't make as much as Richie does and I often don't fill it up. If you rent from the right company, the differential can be less than $2 per gallon, and if you only used a few gallons, it literally (i.e. mathematically) isn't worth the extra dollars that your time is worth.

I made acquaintance with a person on that search committee about 6 months ago. He said the committee is holding meetings at remote locations, ie San Diego and Florida. He has attended, the search is complete and they are waiting on the right time to introduce the new AD. My personal feelings on this is that they don't really have their man sewn up so this is now just a rumor. But, I don't know why they must waste money for extravagant trips to do this work. Who pays for this. I doubt they do. Seems typical Purdue.

Purdue's search committee was not announced until February...and they did not even meet for the first time until April, at which time it was announced that they were going to work with an outside consulting firm (another questionable expense)...so while the extravagant trips would not surprise me, I find it incredibly hard to believe that the search is complete...and there is no reason to wait if it is...in Burke's case, the right time to announce his replacement passed long ago.

Let me revise the time frame to about 6 weeks ago. Time is flying on me and is too hard to track accurately. My description of our conversation is, however, accurate.

Without naming names, are you impressed with their choice for a new AD?

He didn't tell me the name, just that they picked one. No more information on that. This is why I put it in the rumor category. Yes, I would rather that we know now as that would put more credibility to it. And if it is a "killer" choice, we can develop more hope for success. I am more critical of the apparent waste of resources. Yes, it is small potatoes in the big picture, but it does identify if even that group can do work within reasonable financial limits.

So, if they finish their work and identify the new AD earlier than the date MB retires, they can put that new person to work raising funds for the department. That way the new AD can benefit from the excitement surrounding his/her hire, and transfer that excitement along to the fans and the staff. There is a way to do a "win-win" with this upcoming event and I await to see how well it goes. Let's hope there is no slime. A little sauce maybe, but no slime.

Whoever they hire will be in place by the start of football

They bumped the timing and made it public because they acknowledge football is an unmitigated disaster

We should look to Minnesota and emulate the way they do things.... Why? Tell me again why their process has produced enviable results in any way, in any venue.....

I read some of these posting and I think "WTF?" Sorry, but this bitch is just laughable.
