So one of my good friends got a great job offer in Lafayette, and he'll be moving there soon. He knows I'm a huge Boiler fan, but I pretty much wasn't able to answer any of his questions (I'm not from WL, and only spent 4 years there, and on top of that I haven't lived in Indiana at all since graduation from PU)
So I thought I'd post here, since I know some of you guys live in WL/Lafayette and/or are from the area.
He's got a 3-yr old and a newborn, so many/most of his questions are about schools. There's a website called greatschools.org, but I have no idea how legit or accurate it is. A quick summary of the rankings on that website are as follows: they rank Happy Hollow, WL Jr/Sr HS, Klondike Middle School, East Tipp, Murdock Elementary, Wyandotte Elementary, Earhart Elem, Hershey, and some of the area private schools very highly, not so much on most of the others.
Does that seem fairly accurate? Any other HS besides WLHS that are good? Thoughts on Harrison? McCutcheon?
Any advice/thoughts on nice neighborhoods or areas to live in?
I'll pass along any advice re: neighborhoods, areas that are great or to avoid, etc.
My knowledge of the area is over a decade old and is from the perspective of an undergrad and an alumnus who goes to a football game or two a year, which I'm finding is worthless for helping someone with a family looking to move to the area. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance KHC!
