What about the following scenario?

Jeff Brohm takes the Louisville job, agrees to not poach any 2019 Purdue recruits outside of the Louisville area (Wright) or Purdue 5th year guys, on the condition that Brian gets the head coaching job. Let's assume that between Brian and Jeff they are able to keep the entire 2019 class secured and prevent 5th year transfers out of the program. Also assume that Brian would not require as hefty a salary as Jeff and there would actually be a bigger pool for assistants, considering the buyout.

Granted, this scenario would NEVER happen. I'm just having a bit of fun since we're all just throwing stuff around anyway. But...

Would you take the deal or let them walk?

Brian has been a coach two years. I prefer Coach Shep who does have a relationship with all the receivers

Dabo Swinney was a receivers coach before head coach

Lot of smoke out there that Karlaftis will flip to Michigan if Brohm leaves.

I believe Brohm would poach recruits from either of those guys in a heartbeat. Family is different. This scenario is all about Jeff looking out for Brian.

I think Shep could keep a lot of these guys. I would pay Holt handsomely to stay. Matter of fact I would offer all the assistants well and roll with just one hire.

I like it but this would be like Ray Kroc’s handshake deal with the McDonald brothers on revenue.

I hope he turns them down and we have some awesome video with him and the 2019 class saying “let’s play football”.

If Jeff leaves, Greg and Brian leave. The Brohm’s are a very close knit family. We probably lose half of our current recruiting class that has verballed. Even if Jeff would not poach them, they committed due to him, not our university. They go someplace else. It would not be a good off season.

I would be surprised if Karlaftis were to still come here if Brohm leaves. He has been uncomfortably close with Michigan despite his verbal.
