I think we can rule out Miles, Olson, Spack and any other coach whose season is done or is unemployed. I think they would have been introduced already.
It will be interesting to see where Hazell ends up. Purdue did him dirty by getting rid of him after a 3-3 start. We were told a bowl season would save his job and he was on pace for that.

He should of been canned at half time of Iowa game after taking final TO & then having Blough take a knee at mid-field down 35-7. If Bobinski had done so then, it would have demonstrated a serious resolute determination to never again tolerate the timid uninspired leadership DH had shown since arriving 4 yrs ago. I will confess that he made up for it by removing him one day later. DH was in way over his head as a head coach at a Power5 school. He has alot of really good qualities in my view-- (articulate, personable, detail oriented, tireless worker, well liked by everyone who meets him, etc) I think his talents lean more toward administration-possibly assistant AD or AD -but this guy is not a big time HC......is he?It will be interesting to see where Hazell ends up. I couldn't disagree more.
There is no way this team was on pace for a bowl game. Nick Saban couldn't guide this roster to a bowl game. And finally, Hazell was way overpaid from the get-go. His resume was way too thin to warrant the salary and ridiculous buy-out which he received.

The only bowl he was on pace for was a bowl of corn flakes. I think he is a nice and good man, but a HC at this level he is not.It will be interesting to see where Hazell ends up. Could also be because B1G or not, Purdue might not be as good of a job as we hope/think.The only bowl he was on pace for was a bowl of corn flakes. I think he is a nice and good man, but a HC at this level he is not.
And just because no announcement has been made, it doesn't necessarily mean a coach hasn't been hired. There could be 100 reasons for it not to be made public yet. All in good time people .
Good point. Just because we think highly of our campus, doesn't mean others do.Could also be because B1G or not, Purdue might not be as good of a job as we hope/think.
Who said it was a good job?Could also be because B1G or not, Purdue might not be as good of a job as we hope/think.
Hazell basically has a pension... anyone with a modest lifestyle and willing to live in a medium-sized or small city should be to live for 40 years on the buyout Purdue gave him.I don't think you ever see DH as a HC anywhere ever again ... unless he blows his wad and ends up at some HS some place trying to gain a pension.

Who said it was a good job?
It is anything but a good job...the best selling points are that Purdue is in the weaker division of the conference, it is in a position at least where money should not be an issue, and, security is generally not an issue (or at least had not been under the previous AD).
The job itself is beyond daunting at this point, as right now, if not the worst job in the B1G, it is the second worst.
A couple of thoughts...Gerad Parker said it's a good job. He outlined all the things Purdue has going for it. Had Purdue actually hired a competent coach after Tiller, things would be much better. Same can be said after Danny Hope was dismissed. Morgan Burke simply hired the wrong guys to run the program, and frankly he should have been fired for it.
I think this is generally true of all jobs at schools which have historically had some success, but it doesn't mean the Purdue job won't be attractive to quality candidates.
When we fired Bill Lynch, we found that a number of good candidates were interested in the IU job. They weren't big, established names, but included many of the most well-groomed FCS coaches and a number of higher reputation FBS coordinators looking to move up. The result was Kevin Wilson. He wasn't a sexy hire, but he's given us solid improvement and we now enjoy a competitive team and the respect of the conference's best teams. This is something we haven't known for a generation.
If Indiana can attract that level of attention, there is no reason Purdue will not do the same. One the plus side for the Boilers is the fact that you have a stronger football tradition than we have. One the minus side, you are behind where we were with regards to facilities and other upgrades when the hire was made. The second point should not be underestimated with regards to the first. Recruits don't want to see drawings or the excavation taking place for the upgrades they may only use for a year or two. It may take a little while for their effects to kick in for you.
I do know this, your new AD is in a position to really prove his worth one way or the other with this hire.
A couple of thoughts...
What is Parker's point of reference? To him, it no doubt was a good job...and would be...but to someone outside who has had resources and been involved with a successful program and athletic department, it may not (and likely is not) viewed the same.
In addition, what was he going to say? Even if it were the case, hard to imagine him coming out and saying what a lousy job it really is.
Personally, I just don't see Purdue having much, never mind a lot, going for it...other than Rutgers, it is arguably the worst job in the conference.
Your point regarding Burke is spot on.
I would think Parker is hoping to be retained in some capacity. New family, children and wife seem to have made alot of friends here-hoping he is retained-but not anyone else-we need to clean house except for maybe the grad assistants but thats not likely
