I hate forced apologies. If she said it, it wouldn't be sincere. Usually it is a false apology - "I'm sorry that you allowed yourself to be offended".

She shouldn't have said it, then again, Scalia golfed with Cheney while considering a case in which Cheney was a part of and never even though about recusing himself. Thomas' wife is heavily prevalent in right wing political groups. The SC doesn't have a strong recent history of staying pure in this regard. Again, shouldn't have said it, but it isn't the world-ending comment the media is making it out to be either.

I also suspects she believes that Hillary is going to win and she will be retiring soon.
